Coffee is more than just a morning caffeine jolt - it's a lifestyle. There are lots of ways to drink coffee and lots of places to get a cup. How do you like your coffee? In a café? At home? The office? Below is my informal coffee rating scale from worst to best: Note, I’m leaving Vietnamese Iced Coffee off the list. It’s amazing, it just isn’t something most of us would have more than occasionally. • Keurig - Bad coffee beats no coffee. That’ s all I’m going to say about that.  • Convenience store or gas station. Wawa isn’t awful if you have one nearby. • Dunkin Donuts – the coffee isn’t terrible, but you are probably better off going elsewhere for donuts,  • Nespresso is a step up from a Keurig. Prefer the smaller original pods than the Vertuo. • Diner Coffee – may not “wow” you, but if I’m in a diner, I’m drinking the coffee.  • Starbucks – overrated; coffee is often burnt, but there are some good choices there and the nitro cold brew is good.  • Home pour over with fresh ground beans – yes, you can make better coffee at home than Starbucks! Using a Chemex or Aeropress helps. I’m not as big a fan of a French Press.  • La Colombe - don’t let Dunkin or Starbucks put you off coffee chains altogether. Some coffee chains are great – La Colombe is one.  • Local café - there are tons of these around – you just have to experiment until you find a really good one near you.  • Home brew with an espresso machine and fresh ground beans – worth the time, worth the investment in the machine. If you have a Starbucks habit – the investment will be returned in savings multiple times over. The scale is subjective and is based on my own taste and preference and not any survey or consumer purchase data. Not intended to offend anyone. I welcome opposing viewpoints. I recently bought a coffee pot online. Although the specific model was unfamiliar to me, the reviews were positive, so I gave it a chance. Soon, a brown box landed at my door 📦 Before I knew if I liked the product, I let it in my home. I wasn’t sure I’d keep it, but why not brew some hot drinks and try them? If I didn’t like it, I could always return it. So, after careful unpackaging, the machine sat in my kitchen. We had a staring contest… I noticed more than the standalone product. I pictured how the appliance could fit into my life and my routine. This is different than how I experienced products at the start of my career. Not to date myself, but then, first impressions started at physical stores. Now, we experience them in the comfort of our homes. Do you think shopping experiences get a home-field advantage? Will you like a product more if you try it at home first? To be honest, it depends on the product and what you value. Some users welcome a homey embrace, while others prefer the hands-on in-store experience. There is only one thing for certain… I get to wake up and make fresh coffee and tea every weekend.
