As summer unfolds, so does the need for robust garden ecosystems. Integrating native plants into your garden not only enhances its beauty but also supports local wildlife and reduces maintenance needs. Native plants are adapted to the local climate and soil, requiring less water and no fertilizers or pesticides. Thrive Lot's Eco Pros™ carefully select native species that will thrive in your garden, creating a sustainable, vibrant outdoor space that supports local ecosystems. 🌺🌳 #NativePlants #EcoGardening #ecosystem #ediblelandscaping #forestgarden #foodforest #nativeplants #pollinators #garden #gardendesign #flowers

Have you ever watched a garden come to life with the gentle flutter of butterflies and the industrious buzz of bees? Creating a wildlife haven in my UK garden has been one of the most rewarding experiences, and it's easier than you might think! First, I started by planting native wildflowers like foxgloves and cornflowers. These not only add bursts of color but are also magnets for pollinators. To cater to the bees, I included a variety of flowering plants that bloom at different times, ensuring a continuous supply of nectar. Lavender and borage have been particularly popular guests in my garden. Water is another essential element. I placed a shallow dish filled with pebbles and water to give bees and butterflies a safe space to drink. It’s a simple addition, but incredibly important. Lastly, I embraced a more relaxed approach to tidiness, allowing a small section of my garden to grow wild. This provides shelter and breeding grounds for these delicate creatures. Have you tried creating a wildlife haven in your garden? It’s a delightful way to blend beauty with sustainability and witness the wonders of nature up close. Why not give it a try? https://lnkd.in/ekruS7Cn

Each day leading up to World Rewilding Day on the 20th March, we will post ideas on how you can restore Nature in your own space. Read on for ideas 💚 1. Rewild Your Mind The first and most important step is to change our way of seeing Nature. Our brains are conditioned to prefer tidiness, we crave manicured lawns and tidy hedges – but if you look at them in what they do for Nature, you see things in an entirely different way. Tidy gardens are, lets face it, desolate and hostile to wildlife, stripped of the nutrients and diversity above and below ground that Nature needs to thrive, whether you are in the country or the city. So lets do this differently. A more relaxed approach to gardening allows us to appreciate the beauty of natural diversity and promotes ecological but also our mental health. Your garden can still be beautiful - Instead of striving for uniformity and meticulously groomed landscapes, we can celebrate the beauty of wildflowers, native plants, and the spontaneous growth of various species. By relinquishing the need for strict control over our outdoor spaces, we create habitats that support a wider range of wildlife, from pollinators to birds and small mammals. Adopting a mindset that values the inherent richness of real Nature, not cultivated and controlled Nature, not only reduces our reliance on harmful chemicals and resources but also fosters a deeper connection with the natural world, enriching our lives in ways that extend far beyond the boundaries of our gardens. #biodiversity #rewilding #changethenarrative #gardening #wildlife #naturerestoration #ecosystemservices #brightgreennature #future

Can letting go have a positive impact on nature? A six-year study has shown that one simple action can boost butterfly numbers by up to 93%... Leaving areas of grass in your garden to grow long. Conducted by Butterfly Conservation, this is the first study-backed evidence that wildlife-friendly gardening practices can boost the numbers and types of butterflies 🦋 It's a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best thing to do is to do nothing. It's why I'm a huge fan of #rewilding. There are loads of little things you can do in your green areas (gardens, communal spaces, window boxes) to create more wild spaces and have a positive impact on nature. And with over 728,000 hectares of gardens in the UK, the potential for positive change is immense. The study showed that the biggest impacts on butterflies were felt in urban areas and places of intensive farming. What are your thoughts on the role of wild spaces in supporting biodiversity? Will you be creating any wild spaces this spring? --- Image of Murphy basking in my little wild corner and uncut grass at my old house. I'll be recreating something similar this Spring. #biodiversity #nature #butterflies #wildspaces
