📊 Excited to announce GiveCalc, a new tool from PolicyEngine US that calculates the true cost of charitable giving. When you donate to charity, you reduce your taxes—but by how much? GiveCalc answers this question by modeling federal and state tax systems, showing you: - Your total tax reduction - The "marginal giving discount" (tax savings on your next dollar) - How much to donate to meet your giving goals Try it at https://lnkd.in/gPEck6JX, or read the blog post at https://lnkd.in/gxmM959Y, and let us know what features you'd like to see next! #CharitableGiving #TaxPolicy #OpenSource #GivingTuesday

When you donate to charity, how much does it really cost you? That question sparked an idea at a hackathon in 2022. Today, after two years building PolicyEngine's comprehensive model of the US tax system, we're launching GiveCalc—a free calculator that shows exactly how charitable donations affect your taxes. Enter your income and household info, and GiveCalc computes your tax savings across federal, state, and local taxes. It even calculates your "marginal giving discount"—how much you save on your next dollar of giving, and helps optimize against your giving goals. Software is not a solution, its a strategy. This is something that I have adopted in all my conversations with perspective users to GiveSuite and is the topic of my very popular webinar "Not all systems are created equal" But my latest YouTube video breaks down this topic a bit more and also discusses some software tools that might be ideal for your nonprofit. Have a watch, like, subscribe and learn somthing. What topics should I cover next? #Youtube #Nonprofit #Nonprofitmarketing https://lnkd.in/dCYNEQmQ

⁉"What Is Grants.gov?" ⁉ There are twenty-six federal grant-making agencies and more than 900 individual grant programs that award more than $400 billion in grants each year. This allows those in the grant community — including state, local, and tribal governments; academia and research institutions; and not-for-profits — to only need to visit one website, Grants.gov, to access the annual grant funds available across the federal government. 📨 You can also sign up at the Grants.gov Web site to get automatic e-mail alerts about grant opportunities that are of interest to your organization. #grants #grantawards #nonprofit #notforprofit #localgovernment #tech #bioscience #lifesciences #funding #grantwriting #opportunities

Thanks to everyone at Visa and Authorize.net for doing a partner case study on 4aGoodCause. Why do we love Authorize-net? With Authorize-net as our partner, our nonprofit clients know their donations are secure. Payments are easy and reliable. Why do we love their e-check processing option? 1. Processing fees are lower. We want our nonprofits to keep more of what they raise. 2. It's a safe payment option that reaches a wide audience. 94 percent of the adult population in the United States had a bank account in 2022. 3. E-checks are great for monthly giving. E-checks and ACH hold the highest donor retention rate out of all types of monthly giving payment options. View our case study video at . We also want to give a big thanks to Kim Wall at the Georgia United Credit Union Foundation for being such a great host on the day of filming and for being such a great client of ours. We love supporting the work you are doing here in Georgia to support local schools. We appreciate your business. #donations #monthly #nonprofit #donation #fundraising #charity #nonprofitorganization #nonprofits #notforprofit #support #socialgood #monthlygiving #recurring #subscriptiongiving #recurringgiving #monthlydonor #donorlove #visa #authorizenet

The World of Grants: Secure Funding for Your Nonprofit Navigating the world of grants can seem overwhelming, but understanding the basics can unlock new funding opportunities for your nonprofit or business. Let’s break down some key insights on different types of grants and how to approach them. Key Types of Grants: Government Grants: Federal, state, and city grants provide significant funding. Federal grants, found on Grants.gov, require registration with SAM.gov to receive payments. Corporate Grants: Large companies like Walmart and Target offer grants, often looking for organizations with strong community engagement. Focus on visibility and social impact. Foundation Grants: These are typically focused on community-driven projects and are competitive but supportive. Winning Strategies: To stand out, mix data-driven evidence with powerful stories. Government grants care about data and evidence-based practices, while foundations want to hear about your real-world impact. Remember, partnerships with other organizations can also boost your chances for local grants. Ready to Learn More? Want to master grant writing and secure the funding you need? Comment “GRANT” below to register for our upcoming webinar and take your nonprofit to the next level!

Trustees’ Week day #2, highlighting some of the responsibilities trustees have. More detailed guidance can be found here. https://lnkd.in/eX6pjHB7 Every Charity will have its specific charitable purposes, detailing what the charity is set up to achieve, and it essential for trustees to be familiar with these. It is also essential that the charity’s purposes are carried out for the public benefit. Trustees should be clear who should benefit from the charity, why the charity’s purposes are beneficial to them, and how the charity’s purposes will benefit the public or a sufficient section of the public. Now is a good time to revisit your charity’s governing document, refresh your memory and consider the following questions: 1. What is your charity set up to achieve (its purpose) -does this need to be updated? 2. Who is your charity there to benefit (its beneficiaries) - is this a sufficient section of the public? 3. Can you explain how the charity actually provides public benefit? and 4. What can your charity do or not do to carry out its purposes (its powers)- are these wide enough to cover your current and planned activities? As always Tozers LLP are happy to answer any questions you may have on this topic James Evans
