🔎 Understanding the observer-expectancy effect is key. It occurs when the researcher expects a specific result and subconsciously manipulates the experiment or misinterprets the data to detect the desired result. This knowledge is crucial for designing unbiased surveys. 💞 When HR professionals expect employees to be happy and engaged, they might unconsciously design surveys to nudge employees to get needed results. 📊 💭 This will result in a degrading understanding of the "on-site" situation, making the HR team live in a different reality. Such differences in the long term will result in paralyzing the HR team and making it extremely hard to understand the real problems the workspace and employees face. 👁️ Want to learn more? I've done a lot of research in my life. From advertising effectiveness to nursing student evaluations to influencer motivation -- I've been all over the place! I think it's awesome how research is just research. Not every research method will work for every question, but every question has a perfect research method. An in-depth interview looks the same whether it's with a student, a consumer, an employee, or a founder. The questions are different, but it's the same. Research is research. Lately I've added another research topic notch to my belt -- employee satisfaction. Seeking to understand employee concerns/ needs at a company and then advocating for them to their bosses is EMPOWERING! And so insightful and impactful for the organization. Research rocks.
