"You get the best feedback from people who don't care about you" This sentence keeps coming back to me (and I wish I could remember where I picked it up, so I could credit properly). It works for both negative and positive feedback: ✴ people who don't know you, are less worried about hurting your feelings, and more likely to provide honest criticism (which is what you need) ✴ people who don't know you, but who praise what you've done, aren't just trying to cheer you up, or be supportive - they really mean it! We all need friends and supporters, but a good question to keep in mind is: how am I getting the anonymous or emotionless feedback from 'people who don't care about me'? This could also be data on how people actually behave (only 25% of learners watched this video to the end) as opposed to how they say they behave ('loved the video!) Data doesn't care about you either 😊 I've been thinking about this subject because our latest 4-minute How To Learn podcast looked at..
