I'm glad to have the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of maritime industry operations during my visit to the Hambantota International Port 🇱🇰. During the visit, I have the opportunity to closely observe operations in HIPG and identify how they fit into the global maritime industry and supply chain. Exloring aspects such as port logistics, vessel handling, cargo management, and the integration of the port with global trade route offers valuable insights into the dynamics of the maritime industry and its significance in facilitating international trade and supply chain operations. #maritime #supplychain #globalsupplychain

The Madeira's International Shipping Register (MAR) EUROPEAN MAR (EUROMAR) has witnessed a remarkable surge in recent years. The number of registered vessels has skyrocketed, growing from less than 250 in 2014 to almost 1000 today, thus quadrupling in size. MAR thus ranks second in Portugal but is a top-three contender within the entire EU, both in terms of vessel count and total tonnage. Quiz, Kyriakos Mitsotakis: why are Greek shipping companies choosing another EU flag on their managed ships lately?

It's a relief to know that these courses are finally available. I am confident that Fiji National University has lined up experienced and qualified professionals to teach those interested in Logistics & Transport courses. Vinaka, FNU! The maritime sector encompasses the ships, ports, companies, and individuals involved in the industry. This industry is vital to the global economy, covering both offshore and onshore personnel. Seafarers are necessary to transport cargo from port to port, while shore-based workers are essential for receiving, storing, and distributing these goods to warehouses, supermarkets, and other destinations. Logistics and Transport involve coordinating and communicating across various processes such as production, storage, inventory management, delivery, and distribution of goods and services. This also includes interactions with relevant government bodies like the Fiji Revenue & Customs Services and Biosecurity. Shore-based personnel act as the vital link between maritime operations and land-based activities, making a thorough understanding of Logistics and Transport crucial. This field includes a network of organizations, people, activities, information, and resources that facilitate the physical flow of products from suppliers to customers. It covers the distribution of finished products from manufacturing plants to warehouses and, ultimately, to end users. In the era of digitalization, the Logistics and Transport industry has undergone significant transformation. Digital advancements have led to considerable cost savings, improved efficiency, and enhanced safety in maritime operations, both offshore and onshore.
“This programme, franchised by the highly respected Chartered Institute of Logistic Transport (CILT), a UK-registered body, offers a unique advantage to our graduates. The programme is also registered with the Fiji Higher Education Commission and its focus perfectly aligns with our programme modules, making it an ideal choice for aspiring logistics practitioners.” Captain Tevita Robanakadavu Director Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies Mini Graduation o the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport International Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport

https://lnkd.in/dsSFpiiU It's great to see the progress being made with the PPP model. The establishment of shipyards in Poovar and Kollam, along with additional smaller shipyards in other waterfront cities, would indeed be a significant boost for employment and socio-economic development. Such initiatives can transform the local economies and contribute to the maritime industry's growth in the region.

𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 - 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐞 🛳️ 🇱🇰 The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is excited to welcome the Ever Ace, one of the biggest container ships in the world, to the East Container Terminal (ECT) at Colombo Port today, July 2, 2024. The ETA (Estimated time of arrival) of the vessel is 2200 hrs. With a capacity of 23,992 containers, the Ever Ace was the leader of the world's largest class of ships before the MSC Irina. Previously, the operations of this ship were conducted at the Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT), where China holds a majority share. The transition of operations to ECT underscores the terminal's advanced infrastructure and enhanced operational capabilities. This event signifies a monumental achievement for the SLPA, as this will be the largest container ship handling in its history. The arrival of the Ever Ace at ECT is more than just a significant operational milestone, it marks the beginning of a new era for the SLPA. This long-awaited moment demonstrates the port's readiness to handle the largest vessels in global shipping, positioning Port of Colombo as a key player in the international maritime industry.
