In moments of challenge, how do you ensure that you're taking full ownership of the outcome and what steps do you take to turn obstacles into opportunities for growth? "Taking ownership is definitely one of the most difficult fundamentals to apply in the work place and in life. It’s difficult because taking ownership is more than just giving out apologies for mistakes we’ve made, but it can often be misconstrued that way. To truly take ownership there are two things we must do to help fix the situation. One, if you can make it right, do it. We do that all the time here at Adam & Son. Last week we had a Mazda come in and when we went to return the car, the motor to adjust the seat was broken. Although it was unclear who was at fault, we still made sure the motor was repaired so it could be out before the weekend. At the dealer and at a lot of other shops that would never happen. The second step of taking ownership is making sure you take future precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen again. In my case that’s making sure all oil caps are on, tightening differential drain plugs, and securing your hood prop. In this industry we lack the trust of the people. So we owe it to our guests to take ownership in our mistakes, because if it was the other way around we would want them to take ownership for their mistakes. So we can gain that trust back." -Luis Maldonado, Apprentice Tech at Austin Bluffs. #adamandsonautorepair #takeownership #OwnIt #AccountabilityMatters #LeadByExample #OwnershipMindset #OwnYourSuccess #ResultsDriven #ResponsibilityFirst #BeTheSolution #OwnYourJourney #StepUpAndLead #CommitToExcellence #LeadWithAccountability #EmpoweredLeadership #ActionOverExcuses

A Self congratulatory post for me as I quietly celebrate 30 years in the truck industry. No continued service with one company to be recognised just the advancing years and creaky back serving as a reminder! 10th August 1994 saw a 16yr old me starting as a Technical apprentice for Volvo Trucks UK, apprenticeships had had a rebirth recently and I was on the ‘Modern’ scheme. Good job….things moved quick and I saw some huge leaps in technology, seeing off Drum brakes for Disc, Manual for Auto, Analogue for Digital. Euro 1-4 and the introduction of SCR and EGR in just the first 15 years alone! Time with MAN Truck & Bus UK saw in Euro 5 and when I saw what a Euro 6 engine (combined EGR and SCR) looked like I knew it was time to trade the overalls for a suit and offer that experience in a number of supporting management roles. All of the advancements in technology were met with resistance along the years, the latest weak argument put up is Mirrors vs DAF Direct Vision System. – #nocontest, the improved view to front is worth it alone! It’s eye watering how quick time flies, although nothing made the eyes water like the exhaust plume of a Euro 0 truck on start up!....So no matter how we look back on the industry in the last 30 years we should be grateful for the advancements in emissions! What next?......No time to wait for Euro 7, lets just call it ZERO emissions….embrace the future of Electric Vehicles and do it with the manufacturer I chose to work with when drawing on my 30 years of industry knowledge! DAF Trucks UK Ltd. #batteryelectricvehicles #Zeroemissions #futureisnow #Experiencetellsme #Cleanair

ARRIVE & DRIVE 🇳🇱 | Congratulations to Gina from the United States! 🎉🇺🇸 Gina's feedback; 🟢 My best tips would be to study much more and longer than you think you need for the theory test, as well as really to make sure you know the minor details of what they prefer you to do in different situations. And for the driving course, If you have questions ask them and make sure you clearly understand the answers. 🟢 A funny difference in traffic rules... The rules having to do with pedestrians! In the US they always have priority because if it is someone not of driving age they have no way to know the priority rules, and if they make a mistake, even if you have priority, if they don’t know if and you hit them, it is much more dangerous for them to be wrong. 🟢 Funny difference; Priority rules. They don’t really exist in the US. 🟢 I had a really good experience, especially that Anke came on the day for my exam and did an extra lesson before I had the test - it made the biggest difference for me! A Formula 1 pit stop is a marvel of efficiency and precision, an entire pit service unfolding in mere seconds. While robotics plays a role, a dedicated team is essential. The true magic lies in the coordination of that team around the car. For the pit service to happen so quickly, each member must have a clear role and responsibility. Their collective performance can be the difference between winning and losing, where even milliseconds matter. In business, the same principles apply. Like an F1 pit crew, every team member needs a defined role. Yet, too often, I see organisations where roles and responsibilities are muddled. Many delay defining these roles because "We don't have time" or "We need to focus on the work at hand." But neglecting this can end up stalling your business's progress. Sometimes, you really do need to slow down to speed up. Taking the time to establish clear roles and responsibilities can propel your business forward dramatically. I am passionate about helping businesses create environments where clear structure and processes empower everyone to contribute effectively. Let’s get your team operating with the precision and efficiency of a Formula 1 pit crew!
