Minimise risk to your IP - do your due diligence on potential buyers 2. Document agreements from the start on ownership of IP and clients - knowing who owns what before stock has value is critical 3. Minimise being tempted by shiny things - get your strategy/plan in order and follow it 4. Prepare yourself for the emotional rollercoaster upon exit - seek help to maintain separation between role, person, and business 5. Don’t take things personally - expect that people will try and talk everything down Be exit ready.
