We are frequently judged unfairly or dismissed for being "quirky" or "weird," even though our jobs are typically our passion and expertise. We pour countless hours into researching, learning, and mastering our special interests, developing unique skill sets and becoming experts in our fields. Our dedication and specialized knowledge are our strengths. Yet, we are sometimes penalized for not fitting traditional norms. Consider this: How would you feel if you were discriminated against for your neurodivergence and your ability to work with others was questioned? How would it impact you if the one thing you excel at and love was taken away because of differences in communication? Let's consider another way to think about diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Hiring individuals from different industries can bring fresh perspectives to your team, strengthening it significantly. I recall when SickKids and Matt Snyder took a chance on me, an IT Talent Acquisition Leader with an Agency/Consulting background to lead Recruitment and Onboarding despite my lack of healthcare or public sector experience. With the right support, we achieved remarkable improvements in a short time. An experienced healthcare recruiter might not have brought the same results. Working alongside an exceptional team, some with healthcare backgrounds, highlighted the value of diverse industry experiences. While industry expertise is valuable, a team with varied backgrounds can drive better outcomes, mirroring the benefits of embracing diversity in all forms, such as race, gender, and age. #Diversity #Inclusion #WorkplaceCulture #TeamBuilding

#DiversityInclusion (D&I) seems like the Buzz word now and some might feel what’s so great about hiring Diverse population in Organisation, to some it just might be Hiring Target and numbers to be achieved, and to some might argue was the organisations not running in earlier era, some might say what great ideas can diversity bring which the existing groups cannot I saw this picture on one of my colleagues Linkedin posting (Credit: Kapil Dawar), and this remained in my head since then, of how beautifully D&I is explained in one simple slide. And 2 Takeaway's 1) In today's demanding and competitive world will "one-size-fits-all" approach work?? 2) Client Needs vs What is the Solutioned We definitely have a long way to go in achieving #equal and #fair representation for all groups. By fostering D&I, we not only create a more just workplace, but also unlock the potential for greater innovation and financial success. Variety of perspectives fosters a wider range of ideas, making a diverse team a key ingredient for success.
