What do you look for in an employee? There are many answers to this question, and they may vary dependent on role and the company you are hiring into. But, generally and across the board, there are a couple of characteristics that I look for, especially at the management level. I want people to challenge the current trend of thought. Not just macro in our surroundings, but also within our own office walls. We can all suffer from “group think” and confirmation bias. Especially when we are likeminded individuals. It is therefore critical that we can also challenge ourselves and ask why what we think may not be the answer. But it has to be done in a positive and curious manner, rather than just being negative and judgmental for the sake of it. Eyal Cohen has worked with me for almost 20 years. He is exemplary when it comes to thinking in such a manner. His positive critique has been invaluable for me over the years and I was thrilled to award him the “Founders’ Prize” at Redwood International Sports ⚽️ 20th Anniversary celebration. A slightly lesser know fact about Eyal is that he has always put his hand up to support, assist and even lead volunteer and social impact projects that we have run at the company. He never makes any noise about it. Just gets the job done. And that is because he is a kind soul. Which leads me to the other major characteristic I look for when hiring. Kindness. It is the most underrated of facets that lead to personal success and contentment. #BeKind. Always.
Wow, 20 years—what an amazing journey! I started out looking for a part-time student job, and instead, I found a family. So much of what I know, I learned from you and Racheli. I’m deeply grateful for everything—thank you Daniel Bernard from the bottom of my heart!
Eyal seems to exemplify all the characteristics that makes for a successful engagement in an employee! It can be termed ‘Value Plus’
Beautiful and Mazal Tov Eyal Cohen! And to you too Daniel Bernard! It's a 20 year celebration for both of you :)
A little louder for those all the way in the back 🔥 “Kindness. It is the most underrated of facets that lead to personal success and contentment.”🔥 Daniel Bernard
Congrats Eyal Cohen, well deserved 👏

1wManagement roles are tough, as managers have to please the board and please the team. Our brain is hardwired to jump into survival mode when we are falling short towards one of the two. Staying kind in that situation means that you are a king over yourself. Kindness is the ultimate trait of people that can stay in an abundant mindset despite scarcity, which means they are less likely to self-sabotage themselves - and so their teams.
