When I was at Southern Methodist University SMU Cox School of Business , The SMU Cox Caruth Institute For Entrepreneurship I learned a life-transforming lesson from one of my favorite professors - the late Bill Bartles. Besides being a brilliant mind, an exceptionally successful entrepreneur, a great teacher, an incredibly kind and brave person, he was the most inspiring person I have met in my life. ( If you have had the privilege to attend a lecture by Professor Bartles you will understand why I said what I said). Professor Bartles told us a story through a case study about how an entrepreneur build a wildly successful business WITHOUT A SINGLE EMPLOYEE. HE ONLY USED GIG WORKERS. As he unpacked the essence of the case study, Professor Bartles told us - "The most powerful tool in your toolkit is your rolodex." ( If there are any young people reading this post, this is where you google rolodex.) 25 years of lived experience in the tech industry has proven this to be true. Whenever I am in any situation, I am consciously or unconsciously aware of people who move me with their brilliance. And when I witness this brilliance, it goes into my rolodex. Sometimes, there are moments in the future, when I need to add greatness to my team. This is when I ask my rolodex of greatness for a referral. It rarely fails me. One of my rolodex's greatest successes has been Anuradha Aravindh Raj. I was a speaker at Jamie Kriegel's Scrum Masters of the Universe webinar. Anu was my host. I noticed how Anu took care of every little detail with love, kindness, grace, humor, integrity and a relentless, uncompromising commitment to her customers. "WOW!" I thought to myself. "I am witnessing greatness." She automatically went into my rolodex of greatness. A few months later, I had an opening at a client. Before I posted the opening on a job board, I asked my rolodex who might be a good fit. The answer was Anu. Asked her if she was available. She said yes. It clicked and the rest is history. 2 key lessons... 1. For those who lack joy in their work life - go where you are celebrated, don't stay where you are tolerated. Go where you can be your naturally great self, even if it is a volunteer position. 2. For everyone - there is greatness in front of our eyes wherever we go, we just need to be present to it. 5 Years In, What a Journey It's Been! If there's one thing I've learned in the past five years as Co-Founder & COO of Medmax Technologies, LLC , it's that success isn't an overnight story. It's a long marathon! Back in 2019, Muhammad Shafique Azam and I took a leap of faith. We didn’t have all the answers, just a shared belief that we could build something meaningful. There was no roadmap, no guarantees—just the two of us, with a vision, determination, and the hope that things would work out. We started small, wore many hats, and faced setbacks that tested our faith. Fast forward to today, and it’s humbling to look around and see what has grown from that early hustle. From late nights and small wins to scaling challenges and building a strong team, this 5-year journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. What kept us moving forward was knowing that success is never instant—it’s earned day by day, through the grind, the sweat, and a relentless belief in the vision. So, to anyone out there starting from scratch: remember, you don’t have to get it all right immediately. Trust the process. Stay consistent. That's how you build something big.

This month we again have a great team anniversary to celebrate as part of our #milestonesatosi 🎉  Our product manager Max Komarow has been with us for 10 years and has witnessed many exciting developments during this time. Today he shares with us: What do you particularly appreciate about Rosenberger OSI?  "I appreciate working on interesting and varied projects in the fascinating world of optical transmission technologies. Our positive corporate culture and flat hierarchies provide me with a lot of decision-making freedom and opportunities for development." How has OSI changed and evolved over the past 10 years?  "A lot has happened. With the introduction of KOMPASS, we have dismantled rigid structures and grown significantly internationally. OSI has developed towards digitalization, flexibility, customer centricity, and sustainability." How did your transition from development to product management come about?  "As a developer, my focus was on technical aspects. In product management, I can incorporate customer needs, market trends, and business goals. I learn more about applications and how our technology solves problems and positions products successfully in the market." Collaboration opportunities become more visible when we get the right people in a room together. This was my second year to participate as a facilitator for our Bosch North American Wipers team. Last year they named themselves Storm Breakers (#stormbreakers) to show that they won’t let the storms get in their way of making improvements and fighting together to be a great team. This event allowed the team, coming from Mexico and United States, to build community through discussions and shared experiences. These are crucial opportunities to build team trust and collaboration to help them to be a High Performance Team! They identified pain points and then made individual commitments to take action on these points…with support of others in the group. The team now has a list they can follow up on to ensure this wasn’t just a “nice to have” event, but the springboard for change.
