"Just a few months ago, I completed a 5-day online internship on electric vehicles with Alphasys 3D Printing Solutions. It was a fantastic experience that deepened my understanding of EV technology and its applications. Thank you to Alphasys for the opportunity and for expanding my knowledge in this cutting-edge field. Looking forward to applying what I’ve learned in future projects! #ElectricVehicles#Internship#Alphasys3D"
One interesting observation during my internship at ITC Limited's Printing and Packaging Unit in Chennai was the integration of co-bots into the manufacturing processes. These co-bots play a crucial role in bundling up the output and packing it into containers, seamlessly collaborating with the human team and bridging the gap between machine operators and material handlers.
As Indian industries embrace Industry 4.0, the global shift towards Industry 5.0 has already begun. While defining a technology within an industrial revolution can be complex, co-bots seem to embody the essence of Industry 5.0 by working alongside humans rather than replacing them. What are your thoughts on this evolving landscape of human-machine collaboration?

Initiation Internship at NJIT (June - August 2023)
I had the incredible opportunity to complete my initiation internship at NJIT, which marked a transformative period in my journey as an engineer. I was involved in two distinct roles that helped shape both my technical abilities and my approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
--- First Role: Research Student under Dr. Petras ---
Working with Dr. Petras Swissler on a research project about self-assembly robots was an eye-opening experience. We developed a novel attachment mechanism for robots working with fabric—an intricate and precise challenge. Inspired by worm-like movements, we explored advanced robotics and learned the complexity of programming and engineering needed to bring such mechanisms to life. One of the biggest lessons I learned was how to progress autonomously—identifying milestones and problem-solving when clear guidance wasn’t available. It pushed me to think creatively and constantly remain curious.
--- Second Role: Makerspace Student Assistant ---
As a Makerspace Student Assistant, I got to work in a state-of-the-art environment surrounded by experts like Justin Suriano who was my mentor and the Makerspace manager at that time. This hands-on role allowed me to dive deep into various fields engineering woodworking, CAM with Fusion 360, 3D printing (FDM and SLA), laser cutting, and even 5-axis CNC machining. One of my proudest moments was tackling a personal challenge: developing a PID control display to help students better understand the principles of motor control. I also contributed by creating a CNC-machined and thermoformed solution to organize CNC tooling, streamlining processes for the team.
This internship was more than just about gaining technical skills it was a profound learning experience, showing me the importance of surrounding myself with knowledgeable and passionate individuals. This experience solidified my passion for robotics and laid the foundation for my future career choices.

The Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA) is excited to share today's PICA Emerging Leaders Profile on Stanley McCloy III; Emerging Leader Director of SC Engagement, and Sales and Business Development Manager at Professional Printers in Columbia, SC.
Stanley’s career in print began early, starting in his teens while attending Lexington High School. Stanley took a course in graphic design. This path led him to Clemson’s University Graphic Communication Program. The program gave Stanley a diverse print education learning about screen-printing, flexo, and much more.
His program required him to participate in two internships while studying. Stanley went above and beyond finding three internships, the third was Professional Printers, his eventual place of employment. Stanley’s advice for young people looking to start in the industry is to “take advantage of the internships.”
Stanley originally started as a sales associate, a hybrid program where new employees work a hybrid role managing accounts and performing customer service. Stanley now manages the associate sales program, the internship program, and generates leads for the entire sales team and develops accounts.
Stanley has come to expect the unexpected in print. For him “there's diversity every day, I can plan my week out and have a general idea of what I'm going to be doing, but the great thing is that there's that variety. Every job that comes through our plant here is custom. So every single job, every single client has their own considerations.” Stanley values the personal focus Professional Printers pays to both customers and employees.
From his perspective the number one pillar is always the client. Stanley is excited for the future of Emerging Leaders and the print industry as a whole, he believes there's a change coming to the industry and that Emerging Leaders is a part of that . “People who have been in the industry for a long time are aging out. Someone has to take over. The industry has to get younger.
Collaboration is really important. When we get these programs running we all benefit.” For Stanley the best part of the group thus far has been the sense of community it’s provided, meeting people with completely different print backgrounds that he may not have ever interacted with otherwise.

As my summer draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my experience as a Summer Intern at Creative 3D Private Limited .
First and foremost, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Bilal Afridi for being not just an outstanding supervisor, but an exceptional mentor. Your guidance has been invaluable. A huge shoutout as well to my colleagues, Turab R. and Yunus Ratlamwala , for being a talented and inspiring team to work with!
During my time at Creative 3D Private Limited , I've gained a profound understanding of Pakistan's entrepreneurial landscape, thanks to the frequent discussions and insights shared on our industry. I learned the importance of seeking out industry experts to enhance business performance, even if it means investing more upfront-it's worth it in the long run.
One of the most impactful experiences was the detailed technical discussions and explanations provided by Bilal Afridi on understanding economic trends within specific industries and developing feasible, comprehensive business plans. These insights have significantly broadened my skillset, especially as an aspiring Computer Science major. Additionally, I learned the ins and outs of basic R&D, which provided a deeper understanding of how research and development processes drive innovation.
In addition to these major learnings, I also picked up a variety of practical skills: from using MailMerge for customized automated emailing, scraping data to develop a database of local and international educational and technical institutions using Octoparse, to creating social media marketing posts. I also gained a deep understanding of 3D printing processes and approached leading engineering universities, like COMSATS, to collaborate with Creative3D in promoting the use of 3D printing technology.
In summary, it's been an incredible experience working at Creative 3D Private Limited, under the mentorship of Atif Baig and Bilal Afridi. As this was my first formal working experience, I walk away with a slight feeling of having just scratched the surface of what I could have learned and achieved. I'm excited to continue growing and striving in my ongoing pursuit of excellence!

3D printing at 3P: Not really a topic you need to create a LinkedIn post about. Or is it? 🤔
Because this post is not about the technical achievement of a 3D printer, but about the people who created the video. 🎥
The video has been created by our 3P social media trainee team, a group entirely composed of apprentices who curate our Instagram and Facebook trainee channels. They’re not just creative; they’re innovative. Our youngest team members, from various apprenticeships, showcase their daily work life at 3P, company events, and other trainee-related topics through engaging posts.
In their latest video, they explored the world of 3D printing, highlighting how apprentices at 3P:
Learn to think outside the box 🧠
Enjoy the freedom to develop their own ideas 💡
Have the opportunity to experiment 🧪
Collaborate effectively in team projects 🤝
Achieve great results 🏆
The "logo lamp" they created will soon illuminate our meeting rooms and trade shows, a tangible outcome of their social media initiatives. It's inspiring to witness how their contributions translate into practical innovations.
Many thanks for your commitment. We take pride in your achievements and look forward to more impactful projects from our dynamic social media team of apprentices. 👏🙌
