Last night, wandering through Target, I stumbled upon Wicked Rice Krispies, Wicked Mac & Cheese, and even Wicked Legos. The Emerald City has taken over shelves everywhere! But here’s the big question: Is this marketing magic, or does it risk turning off audiences with overload? PSA to brands: I know it’s tempting to want to partner with creators who reach out to you… they seem enthusiastic! They tell you how much they love your product and use it everyday. They have such a nice “media kit” showing off their audience info and engagement: wow, 200k subscribers is pretty engaged… (because we know subscribers = people who definitely watch and listen to every piece of content that drops right? 🙄😒🤷♀️🤦♀️) But there’s genuinely a reason your agency has NOT suggested that creator for you. 1) their rate is astronomically overpriced 2) their payments terms suck - who the heck would ever pay a talent before any content is filmed? Come at me in the comments on this one y’all 3) they don’t deliver performance results Trust your agency and don’t ask them to handle convos with those talents, if you love your account manager, anyways. You’ll just be subjecting your AM to a series of insane emails, torturously bad performance that ruins the entire year’s CAC average, and general emotional damage 😂🤣😭

Delivering amazing results for clients is important, but word of mouth only goes so far. Shout out your successes on socials. 2/ Built a massive library of case studies, success stories, and client alumni. You want to show clients how your experience and successes as an agency can be leveraged to solve their problems. If people haven’t experienced something before, they make judgements based on other peoples’ experience of it. 3/ Used FOMO and leveraged the competitive spirit that DTC brands have. Everyone wants to be better than the competition. Use this to keep pushing your levels. 4/ Became the best and ‘only’. Other agencies don’t do everything we do (high-prod, performance creative, UGC, statics, design, etc). Whereas, we have everything under one roof. This is no overnight success but the result of years of over-delivery that the team has put in. Great seeing it pay off with these big wins in 2024 👏🏻

The agency model is outdated, especially in the fast-paced world of social media. Why? Ego. You don't need perfect design or flawless copy to succeed. It needs to be authentic. It certainly should feel as if the person viewing it could ALMOST take that photo/video or feel the sense, "damn I feel like I'm there." Success on social isn't about perfection.
