💡 Why Over-Promising and Under-Delivering Erodes Trust 💡 In any industry, but especially in sports tech, venues, and large-scale operations, trust is built—or broken—by how we handle commitments. When you set a timeline, it’s not just about meeting a deadline; it’s about showing respect for the people you’re working with—be it a client, peer, supplier, or employee. They shouldn’t have to chase you for updates. If you can’t deliver as planned, the solution is simple: 🔹 Communicate early and clearly. 🔹 Provide a brief explanation, whether it's due to shifting priorities, unexpected delays, or resourcing challenges. 🔹 Propose the next steps or revised timelines. This approach reduces unnecessary stress and frustration, both internally and externally. In fast-paced industries like sports and events, where timelines are tight and stakes are high, proactive communication isn’t just professional—it’s essential. Here’s why it matters: ✅ Accountability builds trust. ✅ Clear communication strengthens relationships. ✅ Delivering on promises shows respect for others' time and energy. When we over-promise and under-deliver, we risk creating trust issues that can be difficult to repair, especially if it happens more than once. On the other hand, consistently meeting or exceeding expectations fosters credibility and builds long-term partnerships. For me, building trust is the foundation of successful business relationships. Whether it’s working with venues, sports organisations, or my own team, I strive to deliver with integrity and respect for shared goals. 💬 What strategies do you use to build and maintain trust in your work?
