The brain can store unwanted information and memories, as well as allow for unfavorable thought patterns. These can become outgrown and simply take up space much like the old furniture, boxes of clothes, and unused items in an attic begin to collect dust and mold. Though these things no longer serve us in a positive way or bring us joy, we lazily keep them around while they occupy space.
