Three Care for Veterans residents, accompanied by staff and nurses, attended the Cenotaph ceremony in London on Sunday. They joined tens of thousands of veterans and civilians, led by the King, in paying their respects to the fallen at the annual National Service of Remembrance. Nick, Veteran Networks Liaison Officer at Care for Veterans, shared, “I felt such pride to march in the footsteps of these true veterans. I can only describe how emotional it was, and the emotion of it swept me away.” John said “Today has been truly humbling.” Ed told me “I am immensely proud to be here representing Care for Veterans.” Stephen added “I feel so honoured to have met Johnson Beharry, with the Victoria Cross.” Care for Veterans, based in Worthing, provides long-term nursing care, rehabilitation, respite, and award-winning end-of-life care to disabled ex-armed forces personnel from the RAF, Army, Royal Navy, and Auxiliary services. Care for Veterans hosted a Remembrance service on Monday for residents, staff, and supporters at Gifford House in Worthing. . . #careforveterans #remeberanceday

Enhanced work with the Department of Defense to help veterans in transition. Launching a new study on the impacts of deployment and combat on veterans. Using predictive modeling to help increase early intervention for at-risk veterans. These are all positive steps forward, but increased prevention of veteran suicide starts with you (anyone reading this). Veterans who are contemplating taking their own lives are in a particularly delicate state, and feel there is no other way out. Here's How You Can Truly Help! 1st. Pass this message along right now. ICYMI: My father served 20 years on active duty and retired from the Navy as a Commander; my husband Aaron, served 34 years in the Coast Guard and retired as a Captain. I know how challenging the transition from active duty to civilian life can be - I’ve witnessed it firsthand. For disabled veterans, the process is even more daunting and their caregivers play an important role in the process. Many caregivers are family members or loved ones who take time out of their daily lives to do this much needed work. But right now, caregivers are struggling. 86% of caregivers say their responsibilities have affected their work or education, and only 21% say they feel they can comfortably retire. It’s clear that they need more support! I'm proud that our Easterseals Affiliates are working so hard to support veterans and military families and the caregivers who play such a key role in their lives. But we can only get veterans and their caregivers part of the way to complete success; we need employers to be active partners in this work. When this work integrates with the support and services that many nonprofits provide, we can create a future where veterans and their caregivers feel supported and their service to our nation is recognized and valued. As a veteran, I can attest that to the Government we are just a number. To the Army - I was just a number, despite my leadership skills and dedication to my soldiers. This can create a sense of non-being for many service members and veterans. So, what can we do to ensure that our military & veteran community does not feel this way? - Talk to Veterans and servicemembers. - Show gratitude for the sacrifice that my brothers and sisters put on the line daily just to be viewed as a number by their employer. - Keep the memories alive of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. - Ask us questions - most of us have pent up issues that we need to talk through. - Make direct introductions to resources - it’s shocking how many resources folks don’t know about (Financial, housing, rehab, VA, resiliency, etc. if you don’t know where to look ask me!) Make an introduction, talk to people, remember the fallen, and most importantly be vulnerable! #Veterans #MilitaryCommunity #Inclusion #Support My old BLC crew ⬇️😁

VETERANS IN POLITICS: who are our Armed Forces MPs? Huge honour to have been working with James Wharton at Forces News on a story, that included a long list of 77 I was ticking off one by one, that have revealed a list of 35 elected. Now, this is down from 50 in the last election, but it is still proportional in comparison to how veterans sit in UK society, with 5% of parliament from a military background (3% of UK are veterans). Other highlights include: ✅ x2 MC holders elected- Al Carns for Labour and Lincoln Jopp for Conservatives ✅ x13 Labour MPs with a military background. Up from 2! ✅ x3 women. All from Labour. The first time in a generation Labour have women veteran MPs. ✅ x5 Lib Dems. Up from 2. Giving them more of a Defence footing since the days of Paddy Ashdown. ✅ Royal Marines. Toppers of them! X4, ranging from junior Marines to full Colonel (that man Carns again). For full story on who is who, see here: https://lnkd.in/eZmHrKGY I’ve been up 28hours, so time to nap again! On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Their courage and patriotism have not only protected our nation but have also significantly contributed to advancing clinical research and medical breakthroughs. Throughout history, the military has been instrumental in developing life-saving treatments, preventive measures, and medical technologies that have had a profound impact on countless lives. From antimalarial drugs to trauma care innovations, their sacrifices have paved the way for groundbreaking progress in healthcare. An exemplary instance is the establishment of the U.S. Army's Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in 1893, known for its pioneering work in preventative medicine, including the development of the first successful yellow fever vaccine. Military clinicians and researchers have tirelessly strived to enhance health outcomes for both military personnel and civilians, even in challenging conditions. On this Memorial Day, we express our deep gratitude to the fallen heroes and the dedicated individuals who have advanced scientific knowledge through their service. Their commitment to protecting and improving human life through medical innovation is truly inspiring and a testament to the noblest of causes. Let us honor their legacy by reaffirming our support for clinical research that continues their impactful work. Their sacrifices remind us of the importance of striving for medical progress to enhance and save lives. We will always remember and appreciate their service. #drugdiscovery #drugdevelopment #studystartup #clinicaltrials #healthcare #clinicalresearch #patientrecruitment #sitemanagement #clinicaldevelopment #clinicaltrial #clinicaloperations #clinicalstudy #clinicalsupply

Essential Insights for Veterans One recurring theme we hear, especially after wrapping up our VetOps monthly workshop, is the drastic shift veterans experience after leaving the military. In the military, everything is provided—housing, childcare, groceries—all within reach on base. One veteran from Nashville shared how he never had to leave the base for anything. When transitioning to civilian life, veterans face the new challenge of managing housing, bills, and more independently. This change is significant whether you're leaving the corporate world for entrepreneurship or transitioning from military to civilian careers. Understanding and preparing for these shifts is crucial for a successful transition. Are you a veteran seeking guidance in navigating this new landscape?
