Our work in Brazil is largely focused on education through sport, via a program we call "Football for Peace." Through sports and football, we help the younger generation we work with stay away from trouble by focusing on soccer – instilling how important it is to "love thy neighbour." In our interactions with participants, we teach them 10 different steps to help navigate which reaction to choose and respond with in everyday life scenarios – it’s a program that stands for something and not against something. A large part of this includes working with our local ambassadors and people the children we work with look up to – providing positive mentors and role models for them. An example of this is our work with our ambassador, Deco (former player and now Director of FC Barcelona), and the various events we have hosted with our supporting partner, Santos FC, and up and coming star Neymar Jr. We are so grateful for every partner, ambassador, donor, and individual who has helped us on our journey to a more peaceful Brazil. Together we will take our programs to new heights in the years to come. #NonViolence #education #footballforpeace #Brazil

Leave a Legacy ❤️ If, like us, volleyball has been an incredibly positive and valuable part of your life and you’d like to help others who might not have that chance to experience the profound impact that sport can have, then a gift in your Will can continue the Foundation’s efforts and leave a legacy of support to all those that come after you. By deciding to remember us in your Will, you'll help our team be there to support and guide all ages, all abilities, all across England. Why should I leave a gift to the Foundation? If you believe in supporting future generations in volleyball then leaving a gift in your Will to us is a great way to help us do just that. Gifts we receive make a real difference to developing the sport from grassroots right through to performance level. Your gift will always matter. Can I decide how I would like my gift to be used? Gifts that are 'unrestricted' (i.e. that we can use wherever they'll make the biggest difference) are the most valuable to us as they can be used where they're most urgently needed. You can also leave a gift in your Will to a particular area or campaign, please just get in touch. What type of gift can I leave? We're hugely grateful for every gift and there are three main types of gift you can leave: A residuary legacy is a percentage of whatever is left over from an estate after debts, funeral expenses, administration costs, and all other gifts have been paid. This can be any percentage you like. Many people choose this type of gift as it ensures their loved ones are taken care of first. A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money that can be any amount, big or small. A specific legacy is a gift of a particular item, such as property or an item of jewellery. 🌟 We're excited to share this conversation featuring Play for Dignity board member, Marco Di Buono, President of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, during his recent appearance on TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin. In this discussion, Marco highlighted the urgent need for systemic solutions to make sport accessible to all children. As Marco noted, "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵... 𝘞𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺...𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤." We couldn't agree more. Play for Dignity was established to help find solutions to the systemic challenges faced by Canada’s sport and physical activity ecosystem. A systemic approach helps us to unpack why barriers persist, how they're interrelated, and how each part of the ecosystem can address these challenges. It is not enough to identify short-term fixes; we need a long-term strategy that enshrines the right to sport, play, and physical activity for all in Canada. We're excited to embark on this journey and invite you to join us! Stay connected by following us and signing up for our newsletter to be part of the conversation as we work together to identify systemic challenges and build solutions that make sport accessible for every child. 💪🏽 #RightToPlay #YouthSports #HumanRights #PlayForDignity #SportsForAll #EquityInSports

A ball whooshed by my head as I attempted to play Altinha, a sport popular on the beaches of Brazil. The goal is to keep a ball in the air for as long as possible, without using your hands. I had so much fun covering the Altinha Club at my school and learning about this popular sport. They let me join in and play with them too! Though I wasn't great, it was a super enjoyable sport! You can read more about this sport in the article I wrote: https://lnkd.in/e8AqHKbZ

Dear network. I would like to share with you an organization that really inspires me. It is called "Fundación Fútbol Más", a chilean NGO that, trough sport, promotes social sportive activities in vulnerable neighborhoods. They have been active for 17 years now, expanding not only in South America, but spreading their work to Africa and Europe too, with a clear Moto still: to transform lives through sport. I find it quite motivating that, through different sportive iniciative we can really make an impact and change people´s lives, and Fútbol Más in particular creates communities based on respect and friendship that motivate each other to be better and to live a healthier, happier life centered on sport and long-lasting connections. It helps to open the door for an active and empathetic life, installing important values in kids from a young age - and what better way to do it than through sport! Did you know about this organization? Do you know other sport-related iniciative that helps and promotes values? I would like to know, comment! #LearningSprintIOCYL #SDGs #SportsForChange #Olympism365 International Olympic Committee – IOC Athlete365 @IOCYoungLeaders

Our latest research: The changing nature of how and where Australians play sport. When we think of playing sport many of us think of our local community clubs. Participation within sports clubs for children increased for some sports. However, adults are less likely then previous years to play sport within clubs. 63% of children's participation in sport was within a club setting, whereas the majority of adult participation in sport (64%) is played outside of community sports clubs. We need to continue to have a range of sport opportunities, programs and settings so Australians can play the sport of their choice, their way. The Olympics remind me of my grandfather, Chris de Broglio, who was dedicated to fighting racism in sport. His work contributed to the expulsion of South Africa from the games in response to their apartheid regime. 🏅 As any good expert in change will tell you, change is not one big action but a constant, evolving process. If you don't work to maintain those changes, you can see things rolling back downhill. I wonder about the future of the Olympics. How will the Games continue to evolve and inspire? Will they maintain the same level of inclusivity and innovation? Elements of the Paris games suggest not. My grandad loved sport, excellent food, talking to people and he really hated injustice. What are your thoughts on the future of the Olympics? How do you think it will evolve in the coming years? Are you able to separate some of the injustices and enjoy the games? Can you both enjoy the games and advocate for change? https://lnkd.in/ejswADaH #Olympics #Legacy #Inspiration #FutureOfSports

Hey CNN, this headline has a misplaced modifier. Will the parents be watching their son — or Flavor Flav! — compete in the Olympics tonight? The picture of a victorious Flav pumping his fists in the air also lends the reader to thinking it's the legendary rapper who will be competing, not the son. 😅 Let me know if you need to hire a Copy Editor. 😉 🙃 #copyediting #funnyheadlines #journalism #editing
Team USA Paralympic sprinter Nick Mayhugh can rest easy tonight: his parents will be able to watch him compete in Paris now that his GoFundMe met its goal – thanks to Flavor Flav’s promotion. Earlier this month, Mayhugh posted a GoFundMe on his social media asking for $10,000 to fund his parents’ travel to Paris for the 2024 Paralympic Games. Within a day, Mayhugh reached his goal, thanks to the generosity of Flav and his fans. Read more: https://cnn.it/3WN2y7e

Learn more about what #scouting truly is! Look beyond the media spin and explore the timeless ideals and the ongoing mission: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral decisions over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. This is an awesome video!
Times have changed, organizations must adapt. Yet, the mission is the same. Proud volunteer of Scouting America (former Boy Scouts of America). Excellent video #Scouting
