Far too often, those who show up to speak at public meetings when a multi-family housing project or MBTA Communities proposal is on the agenda are older, longtime residents who, frankly, already have a place to live. Often missing from that conversation are the voices of younger adults who, due to the difficulty of finding housing in Greater Boston, have or are considering leaving the state. And often, those younger workers tell us, they’d like to be part of the conversation about expanding housing availability. But don’t know where to start, who to talk to, or when to show up. That’s why our chamber, in partnership with CHAPA is launching an effort to engage young professionals in local housing conversations, starting with our virtual Housing Advocacy Workshop Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. Attendees don’t have to live or work in our chamber's communities to attend. In fact, that’s the whole idea: Municipal leaders need to hear from people who wish they could live and work in our cities and towns. If there’s someone in your orbit that might find this of interest please share this link with them.

📢 Rhode Islanders, Vote YES on Question 3 for Affordable Housing! 🏠 The housing crisis in Rhode Island is impacting all of us, but it’s especially challenging for marginalized and low-income communities. Question 3 on the ballot this November offers a vital solution with the $120 million Housing and Community Opportunity Bond, which will directly address our housing shortage and support the creation of affordable, sustainable homes. If passed, this bond will: ✅ Allocate $80 million to create and sustain affordable housing units, giving families and individuals a stable place to live. ✅ Support community redevelopment, infrastructure improvements, and pre-development initiatives to increase housing accessibility. ✅ Help municipalities acquire properties for affordable housing, creating more options for homeownership and reducing homelessness risks. We know that affordable housing plays a huge role in reducing inequalities and supporting economic growth, and this bond is an investment in both. Let’s come together to create real change and bring accessible housing to our communities. Vote YES on 3 to move Rhode Island toward a more inclusive future! 🌟 #RhodeIsland #AffordableHousing #VoteYes #Question3 #UnitedWeVoteRI Thank you United Way of Rhode Island for all your work around these vital issues our communities face.
