#USA #foodinflation 'Harking back to the days before supermarkets, Americans are dividing their food shopping among more stores to save money. Treasure-hunt grocery shopping is the latest example of consumers changing their behavior in response to the higher of prices in our lives, from the homes we live in to the daycares where we send our kids. Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and the only sales I snatched up were in the grocery store! Am I alone in this? Nope - the fact is that as we head into summer, major retailers like Target and Walmart are stepping up with significant discounts to entice inflation-weary shoppers. These price cuts, mostly on groceries, come as inflation shows signs of easing, though not enough to fully alleviate financial strain. Recent earnings reports show that while consumers haven’t stopped spending, they are becoming more price-conscious and selective. Retailers must now offer competitive pricing to retain customers in this new "price war" landscape. And here is some advise from one of those "weary" shoppers, hummus should never be priced at $8 and I have no desire spending $10 for a 12 pack of Soda.......so bring on those discounts, please:) #Inflation #Retail #ConsumerSpending #GroceryDeals
Retailers are facing increasing pushback from shoppers frustrated by still high prices, particularly at the grocery aisle. Here is my story that offers the details and why they are doing it. The Associated Press

It’s interesting to see Black Friday-like discounts in May. While Black Friday traditionally occurs around November, some retailers have extended the concept to other times of the year. Let’s break down what this means for consumers: Retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon are offering significant discounts on thousands of items, particularly groceries. These discounts aim to attract shoppers who may be feeling the impact of inflation and economic challenges. However, it remains to be seen whether these May discounts will significantly boost consumer confidence. In summary, while the May discounts are a welcome opportunity for shoppers, their impact on consumer confidence and the overall retail landscape remains uncertain. Consumers should take advantage of the deals while keeping an eye on broader economic trends. #RetailNews #ConsumerNews #RetailTrends

U.S. grocers are adapting to #consumer shopping patterns in the face of #inflation. As households split their purchases among a wider variety of stores, #grocers are narrowing their product offerings rather than trying to be the jack of all trades in terms of product selection. This shift is prompting changes across #retail #supplychains, with stores focusing more on their private-label brands. According to Numerator, consumers bought groceries from an average of 20.7 different retailers over the past year, up 23% from four years ago. Sales of store brands were up 15% for the 52 weeks ended March 23 over the same time in 2022, according to AlixPartners.
