Honored to be recognized. No matter the role I have always wanted to be the best version of myself I can be. Here are 5 core beliefs that are important to my success. 1) It starts with me. Accountability. Everyone is quick to receive praise, but quick to point the finger when things go wrong. When you receive criticism, embrace it and own it when you make mistakes. 2) You must forge strong relationships. No one can succeed alone. You need a group of people to assist you in work and life. Winning together is better than losing alone. 3) Listen to understand instead of listening to speak. How many times in conversations internally are you ready to answer someone without fully hearing what someone has to say? Take the time to process and be open to what others are saying before responding. 4) Always the student never the master. No matter how long you’ve been doing something. There is always opportunity to continue to learn and grow. 5) You have to update your Resume. Figuratively. No matter the awards, praise, promotions, recognition, status you cannot become complacent of past achievements. You’re only as good as what you do next. Everything that you built can be torn down instantly if you rest on your laurels.

Great to be at the fab Eden building in Salford for today’s @WalkRideGM event. Including gorgeous blue skies in Salford for mini walking and cycling safaris. Really interesting discussions around effective campaigning, framing, community engagement, uniting the movement and growing positive energy to create the conditions for change. 🌱 I joined a panel to share tips on engaging with Councillors and other politicians. Top tips were basically remember politicans are also human beings, ask what matters most to them, be curious, ask what gets in the way of progress and how to help. Shout about the good stuff as well as the bad. Persist.

In case you don't know, Community Association Managers are the glue that holds many communities together. Professionally dealing with situations so close to home--gently and firmly guiding Board members to the best way to comply with governing documents and the law. CAMs often help draft complicated budget proposals and are extremely organized with a million things going on at the same time. And yet somehow cheerful! Look at the smiles in the below post--these are consummate customer service professionals, serving their clients with love and a passion for excellence. Many times, CAMs spend time after hours and even sometimes on weekends--beefing up their knowledge with ongoing education, attending board and annual meetings (in person and by zoom), communicating with vendors and just generally being awesome! I remember this one time, I had a condo property that had a water heater fail 💀 in a third story unit 💀💀 in the middle of the night 💀💀💀. If that wasn't enough fun, the owner of the unit was on vacation 💀💀💀💀 and the board president called my cell phone. 💀💀💀💀💀 🔑Locksmith? Check. ✅ 🪠Plumber? Check. ✅ 💦Waterloss remediation team? Check. ✅ Disaster handled. Fortunately for many CAMs the landscape has changed and board members won't call you on your cell in the middle of the night... But middle of the night calls or not---these unsung heroes are the backbone of Condo and HOA Associations. Dealing with negativity and hurt feelings when residents take things personally, whether neighbor issues, warning notices/fines or other issues--CAMs are in a league of their own handling difficult situations with good cheer. Having my past experience in this arena makes me appreciate you so much more--YOU ARE MY HEROES!!! 👏Bravo Community Association Managers, Bravo. 👏
🎉 Happy International Community Association Managers Day!!! 👏👏👏 TODAY, celebrate all of the amazing hardworking people serving WA communities!
