Some good things are happening in the area of smartening up the humble #container. Following the original announcement by Maersk of equipping their reefer containers with smarter sensors (really IoTs) capable not only of signalling their location, but also the events affecting the state of the cargo, Hapag-Lloyd followed with their own decision to equip their whole container fleet with multi-sensor IoTs. That was really good news for the shippers. But much more is possible. Thus the picture illustrating this story is not really 100% correct. We hardly need humans running around with scanners. Our cranes and any container movement equipment are already equipped with modern scanning equipment capable of recognizing what the container is and matching it against the loading and discharging manifests. But now, with the deployment of much more sophisticated IoTs, it makes perfect sense to start discussing how IoTs on that equipment can communicate with the IoT on the equipment that moves them. From that, we can create insights into handling practices and the influence of those machine-based moves on the state of the cargo inside the boxes. This should eliminate any issues related to the claims either about the damage to the moved box or the damage to any cargo inside it. Can you imagine the box telling the equipment "Lift me gently with vibration not exceeding X Hz"? That's just one of the possibilities of having smart device on the container and smart decision making device at the edge (the container handling equpment). #movement #sophistication #equipment #terminal #logistics #visibility

🚢 Exciting news in the shipping world! Hapag-Lloyd has just launched an incredible new tool - Live Position - for real-time container tracking. 🌍📦 With Live Position, Hapag-Lloyd customers can now track their shipments from origin to destination, ensuring complete visibility throughout the journey. Already, over two-thirds of the company's dry container fleets are equipped with tracking devices, and by this summer, the entire fleet will have comprehensive coverage. ⏰ Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf, Hapag-Lloyd's COO, highlights the benefits of this tool, stating, "It does close the blind spots of global logistics, enabling real-time decision-making and risk mitigation for our customers, while allowing a more efficient steering of our fleet of boxes." Thanks to installed IoT devices, real-time data such as GPS-based location, temperature measurements, and vibration monitoring can be transmitted. This further enhances the accuracy and safety of #shipments. 📊💻 During the successful pilot phase, participants praised Hapag-Lloyd for their dedication to addressing customer concerns. Henrik Schilling, Head of Global Commercial Development, shares, "The participants of our successful pilot phase have already acknowledged that we are going the extra mile to eliminate one of their greatest concerns. Now we would like to take all our customers on this journey to further develop this product." Additionally, Hapag-Lloyd is actively working on integrating the #trackingdata into customers' operational systems via API, while also aiming to introduce Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Prediction as a milestone for advancing the product. The implementation of this exciting initiative is made possible through collaboration with renowned companies such as Asset Intelligence Nexxiot and ORBCOMM. Together, we strive to provide innovative solutions to the industry. 🤝 We must also mention that Hapag-Lloyd pioneered real-time monitoring for reefer container fleets in 2019, demonstrating our commitment to driving progress in the shipping sector. #ContainerTracking #Innovation #Collaboration Vikas Pandey Ravi Shankar, FICS

The World's First WEF-Certified Lighthouse Factory in Heavy Equipment Industry In 2021, the World Economic Forum added SANY Beijing Piling Machinery Factory to its Global Lighthouse Network, noting: "Faced with growing demand and rising complexity in the multi-category and small-batch heavy machinery market, SANY Beijing deployed advanced human-machine collaboration automation, AI and IoT technologies to boost labor productivity by 85% and reduce production lead time by 77% from 30 to seven days." Here I'd love to introduce the key innovations that drive our success: "Smart Brain" - Factory Control Center: Rapid order processing across flexible production lines, workstations, and workers, ensuring a fully data-driven process from order to delivery. "Sharp Eye" - Machine Vision System: Using 2D/3D vision sensors, AI algorithms, and 5G networks, our smart robots excel in adaptive welding and precise assembly. "Swift Feet" - Intelligent Logistics: A pioneering duo of AGVs seamlessly handle the synchronous transport and automated loading/unloading of 27-meter-long heavy materials. "Helping Hands" - Human-Machine Collaboration: Robots take over labor-intensive and hazardous tasks like material sorting and pin assembly, enhancing safety and efficiency. #SANY #WEFLighthouseFactory #PilingMachinery #Innovation
