In #excel TEXTSPLIT (array of arrays) While TEXTSPLIT is a powerful tool for splitting text, it has limitations when dealing with ranges of cells. When used on a single cell, it creates a single array containing the split values as expected. However, using TEXTSPLIT on a range of cells like A5:A13 won't create a two-dimensional array (array of arrays) as intended. Instead, it behaves similarly to the "=TEXTBEFORE(Text, delimiter)", returning only the first value before the delimiter for each cell. One common solution involves concatenating the range with a unique delimiter (e.g., "*") using =TEXTSPLIT(CONCAT(A5:A13&"*")," ","*"). However, this approach can lead to a "Text Too Long" error for large datasets due to the concatenation. 🚀 Excel Function of the Day: SEARCH() 🚀 Day 47 of learning Excel one function at a time, and today we're diving into the SEARCH function! 🎯 🔎 What does SEARCH do? The SEARCH function allows you to find the position of a specific text string within another text. It’s super handy for locating substrings, especially when you need to work with unstructured data. Unlike its cousin FIND, SEARCH isn’t case-sensitive! 🔧 Syntax: =SEARCH(find_text, within_text, [start_num]) find_text: The text you’re looking for. within_text: The text where you want to search. start_num (optional): The position to start searching from. 💡 Examples: 1️⃣ =SEARCH("X", "Excel Function", 1) → Returns 1 (as "X" starts at position 1). 2️⃣ =SEARCH("fun", "Excel is fun!") → Returns 10 (the substring "fun" starts at position 10). 3️⃣ =SEARCH("fun", "Excel is Fun") → Returns 10 (case-insensitive match for "Fun"). 🔥 Why use SEARCH? Case-insensitive string searches. Useful for splitting or extracting data based on keywords. Flexible starting point for more advanced text manipulation.
