Mayo Clinic is one of the most active health systems in partnering with #digitalhealth, boasting close to 120 partnerships. Most recently, Mayo Clinic announced a partnership with Exer AI, a clinical AI focused on MSK and motion disorders. On average, six new partnerships are announced per quarter, primarily from the U.S., but recently also from Israel, Singapore, Finland, and Germany. Based on the data, it is clear that Mayo Clinic helps its partners gain traction and, more importantly, credibility. Of the 14 Seed-stage ventures Mayo Clinic partnered with, five progressed to Series A and B stages within 24 months. Of the 25 ventures Mayo Clinic partnered with during their Series A stage, four have progressed to Series B-D funding stages, and four exited through M&A. While most solution partners are focused on #diagnostics (34%), #healthmanagement (11%) and #patientsolutions (9%) have also gained traction recently. I’m not sure whether at those precise moments it was curiosity, excitement, or a touch of skepticism driving my reaction. Having seen and worked with so many #startups in this field, I still constantly question whether #digitalhealth can truly tackle #mentalhealth issues. Perhaps. Take Pear Therapeutics, Akili, and TalkSpace — from promising #innovation to billion-dollar valuations, now fallen. Success/failure in this field depends on so many factors: patients, providers & insurers needs and interests, clinical processes, business models, just to name a few. And, most importantly, our basic human need for #empathy and connection. But I do hope so. And I certainly support these #innovators determined to reshape how we perceive and manage our mental health struggles. Funding in #MentalHealth jumped by 55% YoY to reach $1.52B 🧠, and funding for ventures in #Women’sHealth increased by an impressive 94% 👩⚕️. #ResearchSolutions (#Techbio) has emerged as a focal point over the year's first half, with funding value increasing 22% YoY to reach $2.63B 🔬. #MentalHealth jumped to the top spot in the #US, with an increase of 115% half-on-half in venture funding 🚀. While it has strengthened, the share of global #partnerships captured by ventures incorporated in the US has slowed from 68% in Q2 2023 to 63% in Q2 2024 🌍.
