If you’re currently covered by your employer’s health insurance, should you sign up for Medicare Part B? In most cases, no. Medicare Part B covers outpatient services and has an annual premium of about $2,000. For employees at companies with 20+ employees (or 100+ employees for those disabled), the employer plan will pay first, with Medicare acting as secondary coverage. Double coverage can lead to complexities and unnecessary costs, especially since many won’t see claims surpassing the annual Part B premium.
