The disappearance of 400 title deeds from a police station in Kajiado is not just an isolated incident—it's a glaring example of the systemic issues plaguing land administration in Kenya. These documents are more than just pieces of paper; they represent livelihoods, security, and the future of countless families who have invested in these ranches. This alarming situation raises serious questions about the integrity of our institutions and the protection of land rights. How can we trust that our assets are safe when even the law enforcers are implicated in such a scandal? It's high time for the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure those responsible are held accountable. The government must take immediate action to restore faith in the land registration process and protect the rightful owners of these lands. We cannot allow corruption to rob our citizens of their hard-earned property. #LandRights #KajiadoScandal #CorruptionInKenya #AccountabilityNow #ProtectOurLand @KenyaLand Alliance @

I’m sitting at Tasha’s in Brooklyn, Pretoria. I arrived here at 07:59 after being dropped at the Sandton Gautrain about 7am by my great friend Andrew Mills CA(SA). It’s easy to become despondent about service delivery deficiency in S.A, and we should be sober-minded about the deteriorating daily reality for many citizens. But there are pockets of effectiveness that provide hope; a picture of what could be. Every South African should have access to brilliant services like the Gautrain, for instance. We clearly have the skills to pull it off. Existing infrastructure can be put to far more effective use. There’s no reason for every South African not to have access to clean water and sanitation, safe homes, job opportunities, and civil liberties. We have to become more effective both at demanding these things and helping to build the institutions that will make them a reality. We’ve just produced our Good Governance Africa Governance Performance Index, which measures local municipal and metro effectiveness. Demand more from your local government. Get informed, and then get involved in your local community. There is good reason for hope. But we’re going to have to fight for it. https://lnkd.in/dhuVEZAy

According to the Makueni County Water Policy (2019), about 90% of the rural water systems are poorly managed. Through the PAMOJA project, we are advocating for the institutionalization of rural water service provision in the Makueni County Water Policy and legal frameworks. This initiative aims to promote accountability and ensure reliable water access for children and families experiencing vulnerability. The political atmosphere in our country has been quite intense lately, with both major parties engaging in various activities. However, despite our tendency to debate and criticize politicians' actions, we seem to neglect thinking about issues that are of national interest. For instance, we need to address problems like the depletion of our forest reserves and poor sanitation, which could cause significant hardship for the Ghanaian people in the long run. #Politics #Costofliving

We are one of 28 signatories of a joint open letter to the Prime Minister expressing our deep sadness and concern as the Safety of Rwanda Bill becomes law. The signatories include survivors of modern slavery and NGOs working to end human trafficking. This law does not only disregard expert advice, but it will make people more vulnerable to trafficking, exploitation and dangerous transit routes. We refuse to stand for it. We urge the UK Government to reverse the Act, for the sake of modern slavery survivors. Together with our partners in Kenya, we have been implementing the '#simplified sewer system' in urban low-income communities where most people lack access to decent sanitation. These low-cost sewer systems—which are much shallower and more #flexible than traditional sewer systems—have formed part of the solution to sanitation challenges and are suitable for densely populated low-income urban communities. The installation of a 'simplified' sewer network coupled with pre-paid water dispensers that provide affordable, clean water continues to play a vital role in improving the lives of many Kenyans. #DignifiedLiving #SanitationForAll #ChangingApproaches https://lnkd.in/gSm7Bxif
