Extreme weather causes a rise in violence against women by their partners. But not all hazards do so in the same way. ♀️ Heatwaves were linked to immediate physiological effects, leading to aggression and violence. Storms or floods, on the other hand, take time to impact mental health and food security in ways that drive longer-term violent behaviour, according to SciDev.Net researchers. Violence against women and girls can and must be prevented. To combat violence, one of the most effective strategies is to empower women through free self-defense training. Martial arts such as Karate and Judo not only provide physical skills but also boost confidence and resilience. By equipping women with these tools, we can create a safer and more empowered community.
