Slightly earlier than I would hope for I am on my way to London Vet Show & BVA Live. The beady eyed amongst you will note the two bridges spanning the River Mersey. Seeing them as I went over sparked my thinking… The old meets the new and aids in the delivery of the key function…increasing traffic and challenges of capacity were rendering the original bridge a nightmare so a new one was built to alleviate the burden. Now between the two they deal with the demand seamlessly. Not only that, but if one is closed the other can take the burden until the other reopens. Here comes the veterinary link I know you are on edge for… The new is helping the old…not replacing it!!! A vet practices key function is to cater to the health and wellbeing needs of the pet owner and their pet. Digital services are helping vet practices to steady the flow and alleviate the burden on a creaking system. To be there even when you aren’t there. We must not view things as an alternative but a way to streamline demand and also to maximise opportunity for your vet practice. By working collaboratively and utilising tools like VidiVet (especially out of hours) vet practices have control over how we can support pet owners with a complete end to end service without being cut out of the loop. With temperatures pushing 40 degrees today, if you’re not sure whether it’s too hot to walk your dog, just follow the 5-second rule 🖐️🐶 Simply place the back of your hand on a surface for five seconds. If you can’t handle the heat, your dog can’t either and it would be best to wait till things cool down before venturing out 🚶♀️ Your dog can easily overheat when walking in the warmer weather. Dogs cool themselves through their paws and by panting. They simply can’t do this if the ground and air is too hot! 🥵 To avoid burning your pooch’s pads, try walking early in the morning before the pavement has heated up or later at night on cooler grassed areas 🌿 If you think your pet has overheated or is suffering from heat related issues, call an RSPCA veterinary hospital or your local veterinarian immediately. #prevention #petsafety #hotdogs
