‘From Grief to Love’ is a book by Laurence Carter. He has kindly dedicated the proceeds of his book to Eve. He has shared his emotional journey with us, from the grief at the loss of his wife from cervical cancer to his healing through this epic 4,300-mile walk around the coast of England and Wales. 'In 1987, Laurence was working as an economist in Malawi. One day he walked into the office and saw this lovely woman in a bright yellow dress with curly black hair. Her name was Melitta and she was an agricultural economist. That day his life changed. He was smitten. They married, spent 28 years together and had three children Laurence says: “She was full of life. Vivacious, chatty, opinionated,” One day in October 2012, everything changed again. Melitta received the results of a cervical screening test which had been delayed several times. She had cervical cancer and needed emergency surgery. In July 2013, after months of gruelling therapy, she received more results: the cancer had spread. She was given 12-18 months to live. Melitta died in September 2015. She was just 53 years old. Laurence’s biggest regret is that he didn’t remind Melitta about her cervical screening test. She had reminded Laurence about his medical screenings. “She wasn’t that late,” he says, “about 3 or 4 months…but that was the difference between stage 3 and stage 4 cervical cancer.” In spring 2017, Laurence decided to walk around the coast of England and Wales. He started in June 2018 at Seaford, on the south coast, where his Mum came to wave him off. A year later, he arrived back at the same spot. You can read Laurence's story and purchase his book on our website: https://bit.ly/3ZSHAXh A huge thank you to Laurence for raising awareness and funds for the prevention and earlier diagnosis of gynaecological cancers. #CervicalCancer #Grief #Challenge #Book #EveAppeal #TheEveAppeal

In recognition of rare disease day we want you to meet the real people affected by NF2 • 3.5 million people in the UK and 30 million people across Europe have a rare disease. • Rare diseases disproportionately impact children • In the UK as a whole around 1500 people have NF2, there are about 900 of us in England We are each affected differently but are linked together by our rare disorder NF2 related Schwannomatosis (NF2). People with NF2 are affected by Brain Tumours, Spine Tumours, Optical Tumours, Deafness, Blindness, Epilepsy, vocal chord paralysis, mobility problems, chronic pain, cataracts, facial palsy ... & much more! Today we meet Aimee who is 41 and has had numerous surgeries to her brain and spine but still tries to remain positive about life with NF2. NF2 is a life long genetic condition There is no beginning, middle or ending to any of our stories, no remission or breaks. Treatment options are surgery/radiosurgery/chemotherapy which often results in loss of function of the involved nerve. NF2 IS FOR LIFE Reading real life stories about how NF2 affects people helps others to understand why we need better treatments. Please help us to make that happen by donating to research, sharing your story & raising awareness. My teenage son recently told me about a lesson he had at school on testicular cancer. What stood out to him? A simple, catchy slogan (created by ‘It’s On The Ball’ charity): "Don’t be bonkers, check your conkers". It stuck with him—maybe because it’s fun, yet most importantly, it carries an essential message. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15 to 35, and the good news is, it’s 96% curable when caught early. Yet, many young men don’t know how to check for signs or feel uncomfortable talking about it. That needs to change. Increasing conversations around men’s health is key. Whether it’s cancer, mental health, or other issues, making it easier for men and boys to talk openly can save lives. Catchy phrases like “check your conkers” might seem light hearted, but they spark the right kind of dialogue. It’s time to raise awareness, encourage regular self-checks, and make these conversations part of everyday life. Let’s keep it simple, relatable, and most of all—open. Need a fresh perspective. Today we meet Sam who is newly diagnosed. She shares with us her fears of passing NF2 onto her children as she has been diagnosed late on in life “10 years ago I was diagnosed with 2 meningioma, one was removed and then on follow up scans for the second one. I was called back to clinic last May 2023 with a view to remove the second tumour , but also offered genetic testing for nf2 ....the two meningioma recognised a risk for having NF2. Nearly a year later, I now know I have a spinal meningioma and 4 schwannoma also in my spine. I'm currently waiting to see if there is a risk that my children may have inherited NF2. As a person identified as having nf2 in my 50s, this is the aspect of the disease which affects me most....not my own situation I can't do anything about that, but the possibility I may have passed it onto my children. I'm getting support but it's incredibly hard to deal with the disease which currently I don't know what the future holds for myself or my children” NF2 is a life long genetic condition There is no beginning, middle or ending to any of our stories, no remission or breaks. Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides. Movember is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale. It funds groundbreaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change. That's why I'm growing a Mo and running 60kms (for the 60 men lost to suicide globally, every hour) this month. If you'd like to donate, click here:

Help us #gograyinmay for children affected by brain cancer or tumors 🎗️ WithLove receives requests for care packages benefiting children with DIPG at least 4 times a year. Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas are very aggressive brain tumors found at the base of the brain. They are comprised of the brain’s glial tissue which is made up of cells that help support and protect the brain’s neurons. Due to their location on the brain, these tumors are inoperable, as the pons area is what keeps us alive - it controls breathing, heart rate, swallowing, eyesight, balance, motor skills and consciousness. Essentially this cancer takes over their bodily functions as the tumor grows, but leaves the child mentally aware. We share all of this because it is the harsh truth. Brain tumors are the leading cause of death to children under the age of 10. We must fight more for our courageous kids and raise awareness in unison with our mission to give hope. WithLove not only wants to send comforting care packages or deliver joy during our Golden Heroes’ journeys, but we want to ensure we are uplifting the families and being a voice for their children as well. We hope you’ll join us ✨ Sponsor a Golden Hero Box ($100) today: 🩶 withlovecharity.org/donate 🩶 venmo @withlovecharity #braincancerawareness #braintumorawareness
