Recent violent attacks targeting politicians in Germany underscore the disturbing trend of political violence. The victims, including social democrat Matthias Ecke, face lasting repercussions, with suspects tied to the far-right scene. This violence isn't limited to attacks; instances of politicians engaging in physical altercations highlight a concerning normalization of aggression. As authorities grapple with this crisis, it's crucial to reject violence as a legitimate political tool and safeguard democratic principles. A long story by Jasper Bennink and Eli Volencová. This is why #populism is so dangerous! This is how, even in the age of universal access to information, knowledge and education, #propaganda and #disinformation can still be so powerful as to completely trump #reason! This is why Jan 6th 2021 happened! This is why 25 Reichsburger were arrested in Germany in Dec 2022, thus preventing a coup d’etat attempt! This is why people like Putin or Lukashenka have remained invulnerable, even built long-term economic and trade (even political) relationships with the so-called mature #democracies for the past 25 years! This is where the distance from #emotion to #action to #chaos (“mayhem”) is the size of a spark! In the past 30 years, #democracy, #freedom and #humanrights have never been so vulnerable!

#AmericanCrisis | "When you say that Trump is a dictator and that if you elect him, the US will become a dictatorship, when you compare him to Hitler, then it is understandable that many people would view it as patriotic to do everything possible to stop him. If he's an existential threat to the country, then he must be stopped by all means." "If it is true that Biden and the Democrats will destroy the country, and we'll have World War III and the country will be gone, if they're elected as Trump has said, then you have to stop them. You have to everything possible to stop them." "I want everyone to recognize that the rhetoric is dangerous and leads to violence. The US is not on the verge of of becoming a dictatorship. Trump is not the Second Coming of Hitler." "75% of Americans, when asked, believe that democracy of the United States is at stake with this election in November. The problem is of course they don't agree on who's behind that, and who's responsible. 25% of Americans agree that it's patriotic to turn to violence in this environment to protect the country... I fear that we are not going to learn the right lesson from this near assassination." "The United States cannot be a country of winners and losers. The United States has to be a team with leaders that we respect." "We have to be willing to fight TOGETHER for our democracy, as opposed to fight EACH OTHER and destroy our democracy." "This is a time that we need a lot more from Americans being together."
i want this country to rally together and unite behind the idea that political violence in all forms is something that a healthy democracy cannot and should not tolerate far more likely we continue down the road of “us” vs “them” GZERO Media

Delighted to have the Respect UK Manifesto, Stopping Domestic Abuse, out in the world. We are asking the next government to: 1. Fund specialist service provision in every local area 2. Prioritise data and evidence 3. Make justice work 4. Focus on prevention Please read and sign our pledge to stop perpetrators causing further harm and hold them to account #RespectManifesto
Behind every survivor, is a perpetrator. Current responses to them are inadequate and fragmented: many can continue their abuse knowing they will never be stopped or held accountable. But all this can change. July’s General Election presents us with a timely opportunity: to help shape the way political parties address domestic abuse. Our #RespectManifesto proposes a comprehensive, whole-system approach that addresses the root causes and impacts of domestic abuse. https://lnkd.in/dSVgKxav

On 6 January 2021, hundreds of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington. Five people were killed and many injured. Some 15 per cent of those involved were former members of the US military or police. By storming the Capitol, hundreds of supporters of former US President Donald Trump aimed to prevent the Senate and House of Representatives from officially confirming Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential elections. Some 15 per cent of those involved were former members of the US military or police. This shocking statistic prompts an important question: Why are the very people who have sworn an oath to protect the nation’s democracy attacking it? The US-American filmmaker Charlie Sadoff and his co-writer and producer Kenneth Harbaugh both used to be in the military, something that allowed them to delve deep into the veterans’ world. Through them, they gained access to violent rightwing extremist circles in America, including anti-government militias such as the Proud Boys, the Three Percenters and the Oath Keepers. These groups - organized and led by well-educated, highly motivated military veterans - represent the greatest threat to democracy in the United States today. The documentary examines the complexity of this development, tracing it back to its historical roots. The smoke over the Capitol may have cleared, but the problem remains: US society remains deeply divided. The groups are still active and the next elections are imminent.

1 in 5 voters will be impacted by domestic abuse (according to the domestic abuse commissioner). So politicians should read this and join the pledge to make changes that will challenge perpetrators and hold them to account and keep their consituents safe and free to live their lives #domesticabuse #labourpartymanifesto #ifyouwantmyvote #ukelection #conservativemanifesto #libdemmanifesto #respectmanifesto

ok, I avoid in life and on LinkedIn any politics + religion + sports stuff unless effects #business and/or the #economy but here my thoughts. Firstly I am glad Trump is safe. Yes there should have been better perimeter protection. And the person killed and any wounded at the rally. Of-cause killing the shooter could make them a martyr. And two wrongs do not make a right but yes they should be help totally criminally responsible accountable for their actions. Even if you I don't vote like myself and think there is No #politician or top #government agency person that is a good-character non-toxic great person, resorting to violance or hurting someone is Not the answer. We need big #political + #politicians + countries government + world government agencies changes for the better. Stopping: 1) We need to stop politician lobbying money kickbacks. 2) Make politicals be good-character non-toxic great people. 3) Force politicians to work together as true good people. 4) Make politicians follow though with the pre election manifeso once elected. 5) Go with the popular vote. 6) Have politicians to be physically and mentally healthy enough to serve. 7) Make politicians do best for their people and the best for the people of the world and the best for their countries and the best for other good countries too while stopping bad rogue countries and do the best for the planet. It is interesting the #CEO of IBM says (see attached post below) about Not supporting violence/abuse. But he is totally hypocritical as all/every business's and companies and gov-agencies believe toxic abusive aggressive micromanaging narcissist dark-triad bullying manipulative gaslighting insecure selfish game-playing lazy crap clique coasters talkers prima-donna BSers jerks make the best Boss's and even workers using 3rd party recruitment agencies lazy toxic agents as someone to blame when candidates do Not work out. Anyway I am glad that Donald is safe. Hope the others effected are fine including their families including the supporter killed too. Of-cause this does bring up the old question about the constitution & amendment about the right to bear arms. I would only vote for someone who cared about their country plus their people first and Not themselves. So I Not be voting this year even though a I legally can. Stop violence, stop crime, stop people trying to hurt others in any way. I have been the victim of many times:- 1) Unwanted sexual harassment. 2) Race baiting taunting by African Americans 3) Gender baiting taunting by women. 4) Woke-DEI agendas/people due to the woke-SBA WOB MOB LGBTQ-OB Disabled-OB unfair competitive inequality advantages against straight white non-disabled non-veteran men. 5) Being spat-on + abuse etc by African Americans. That is why a good African American politician like Tim Scott is better than the AOC pack. WE NEED A TOXICITY LAW WITH A TOXICITY TAX AND CRIMINAL CONSEQUENCES. #cfo #news #ceo #economy #cio #executive #finance #ethics #law
I watched the news of the shooting at President Trump’s rally last night with horror. My thoughts are with him and with the other victims of this appalling act. Violence of any kind is intolerable and must be condemned, and violence at an otherwise peaceful political gathering is the absolute enemy of our democracy.

I thought of you when I read this quote from "Tyranny of the Minority: Why American Democracy Reached the Breaking Point" by Steven Levitsky, Daniel Ziblatt - "Politicians who are committed to democracy, or what the political scientist Juan Linz called loyal democrats, must always do three basic things. First, they must respect the outcome of free and fair elections, win or lose. This means consistently and unhesitatingly accepting defeat. Second, democrats must unambiguously reject violence (or the threat of violence) as a means of achieving political goals. Politicians who support military coups, organize putsches, incite insurrections, plot bombings, assassinations, and other terrorist acts, or deploy militias or thugs to beat up opponents or intimidate voters are not democrats. Indeed, any party or politician that violates either of these two basic rules should be considered a threat to democracy. But ..."
