“The model should be flexible and responsive to community needs and aspirations.” – First Nations Clean Energy Network Symposium "How to turn an idea into a community-level project" Today and tomorrow, Bec Jolly, our Director, Energy Equity, is attending the Symposium in #Adelaide. A huge call out to the incredible work of the First Nations Clean Energy Network, National Native Title Council and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation for bringing over 350 delegates together! The two-day symposium brings together Traditional Owners, communities and businesses participating in the clean energy industry, government policy makers, industry and First Nations leaders. It is an important opportunity to share learnings, new ideas and strategies for how we can work together to partner in clean energy solutions in our homes and communities. For us, it builds on the insights we regularly gain through our First Nations Community of Practice and our co-design First Nations Engagement Toolkit: https://lnkd.in/guNEu6iT #firstnations #insights #knowledge #cleanenergy #energysector #collaboration #engagement

Community finance, ownership and governance of distributed generation makes good sense in 21st century grids. It allows all citizens to both participate and benefit.
⚡️Large-scale energy projects can be compatible with equitable benefit distribution - it's not an oxymoron! Energy communities are key for a just and inclusive energy transition, as they: ✅ promote benefit-sharing ✅ reduce local resistance ✅ mobilise citizens investments Yet, strong political will and support are essential to make it happen!⚖️ 📎Read about this in this article by our colleague Chris Vrettos, who is a EU Young Energy Ambassador https://lnkd.in/eVaizgMP #EUSEW2025 #EnergyCommunities

Indigenous communities are increasingly looking to invest in energy storage projects as they are important to our overall approach to energy transition. In Part 5 of the DOB Energy Series, Ray Chartier discusses the nature of this investment and how it aligns with the communities' priorities. "Indigenous communities prioritize respect for the land, and for the environment, and so economic interest in those types of projects is also ideologically a good fit in the circumstances."
