Tech executives in the UK are showing high confidence in their organizations' AI capabilities, but they also acknowledge significant barriers to further adoption. According to research from Zartis, 85% of tech executives rate their workforce's AI knowledge as skilled, with over half considering it highly skilled. Despite this confidence, obstacles such as budget restrictions, AI talent shortage, and technical complexity are hindering full AI adoption. Industry pressure seems to be a driving force behind AI adoption, with 40% of executives feeling compelled to prioritize AI investment due to the momentum around the technology. While concerns about ROI uncertainty and integration challenges persist, 53% of executives see cost savings through improved efficiency as a significant long-term benefit of adopting AI. Investment in AI capabilities is on the rise, with 93% of companies spending at least £100,000 in 2024. Software development, quality assurance, and DevOps are the top areas for AI investment. As companies navigate the AI landscape, their focus is on AI-powered copilot tools for coding, continuous integration and deployment, and team communication and collaboration. The study also indicates that UK tech executives are in favor of increased government oversight of AI, anticipating benefits from regulations like the EU AI Act. Despite the complexities and challenges, UK tech companies are eager to embrace AI as the revolution continues to unfold. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #TechExecutives #AIAdoption #AISkills #UKTech #AIInvestment #ROI #TechTrends #AIRegulations #AIRevolution #Zartis #AIInnovation

Emerging markets closing the global digital divide with gen-AI is undoubtedly a positive development and a testament to the technology’s democratizing potential. However, I believe its a mistake to interpret higher adoption rates as a sign of leadership. The U.S. remains the epicenter of AI innovation, shaping the tools, ethics, and policies that will define the global digital economy for decades to come. The U.S. may not be adopting gen-AI at the same pace in certain demographics, but its focus on innovation, enterprise integration, and global influence underscores its dominant role in the AI ecosystem. Far from lagging, the U.S. is driving the very technologies that empower emerging markets to accelerate their adoption. #genai #ai #globalinfluence #emergingtechnologies #innovation #startups #emergingmarkets

Excerpt from Our Planet Powered by AI: How We Use Artificial Intelligence to Create a Sustainable Future for Humanity by Mark Minevich The purpose of Our Planet Powered by AI was to give the world a tactile and actionable map to the future. AI can seem nebulous and difficult to understand, this book changes that. It’s for people in the C-Suite and people on the frontlines. The following excerpt from the chapter on The Future of Work is a no-nonsense straightforward piece of direction for anyone navigating their career and worrying about the future. Skills of the Future The future of work is much on the shoulders of the worker. They have to grab hold and create their own careers. They cannot simply sit back and let their careers happen to them. In order to pursue new job opportunities or adapt to changes in their current roles, workers will need to acquire new skills. Research suggests that the work of the future will witness a shift away from low-skill occupations such as machine operators, cashiers, typists, and other office support and toward technology professionals such as information communication technology (ICT) specialists, network architects, systems analysts, and computer engineers. The shift away from low-skill occupations towards technology professionals can be beneficial to people for several reasons. First, technology jobs typically require higher education and specialized skills, which can lead to higher wages and better job security compared to low-skill occupations that are more likely to be automated. This can help workers achieve greater financial stability and upward mobility. As technology continues to advance and become more integrated into our daily lives, the demand for skilled technology professionals is expected to increase. This means that workers who have the necessary skills and education in technology may have a greater variety of job opportunities available to them. Overall, the shift towards technology professions can provide individuals with greater financial stability, job satisfaction, and a wider range of job opportunities. However, it is important to ensure that workers have access to the necessary education and training to acquire the skills needed to succeed in these fields. #LinkedInBookClub
