Happy Day 3 of DrupalCon! Check out some reflections on #Drupal from our attendees at #DrupalConPortland: “DrupalCon Portland has been a great experience so far. One highlight was attending a presentation on building psychological safety with Individuals and Teams. This was an excellent talk about team building and creating a conducive employee environment and it touched on essential elements that can stifle teams, like conflict avoidance, burnout, turnover culture of blame, etc. As a member of the DEIA committee, this was especially useful information and helped highlight how we can better support growth by understanding some baseline contributing factors that need to be acknowledged, like socioeconomic background and disability status. I especially enjoyed reconnecting with past colleagues and hung out with the Black-in-Drupal group—which I am a part of, and I plan to get more involved in their drive to introduce more Black people to Drupal. I also made new connections with first-time attendees, advising them on what to expect and how to navigate the conference to get the most out of it.” -Patrick Koroma, Associate Director of Drupal “Something I noticed this DrupalCon was that when I went to my first session on accessibility, almost the entire room raised their hands self identifying as “intermediate” in accessibility knowledge. That is much higher than it was even 6 or 7 years ago!” -Jessica Straatmann, Back End Engineer #Drupal #DEIA #a11y #accessibility #culture #BlackInDrupal

A while back, I shared some thoughts about reaching outside of our community bubble to promote #Drupal to new audiences. (If you missed it, check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dEZXaVEP) This is something I’ve been advocating for quite some time, even back when I was a technical architect at Acquia. If we truly want #Drupal to grow, events like #Drupalcamp, #DrupalCon, #DrupalMountain or #DrupalCamping ... they are all fantastic places to grow and network—but let’s be honest, we’re often preaching to the choir. Back in 2023 we were at the Drupal Association promoting from the Drupal in #WebSummit Lisbon. The experience was very positive, but there are several reasons why promoting #Drupal there was not necessarily the most cost effective. It is a massive event, yes. But also… it is a massive event. The same advantage is a big disadvantage. I won’t go into the details, but let’s say that promoting in smaller events may be a lot more cost effective, it may attract the attention we need, and it may allow us to do small changes, measure them, and react and adapt in consequence. Today, I want to highlight an inspiring effort from a group of agencies who are taking this challenge head-on. Magnetic Point - Drupal Experts, Droptica, Direktpoint - Drupal, Flutter & Laravel - software house, and osWorkshop have been working together to promote Drupal beyond our community at events like Infoshare. Check out their announcement here, give them some social noise and the likes to give their initiative the visibility that it truly deserves. I hope... I know, this will be the first of many to come: https://lnkd.in/dvBSEVji Thanks Paweł [Paul] Dziennik for letting me know about this fantastic initiative, great stuff guys 💙 👏

Had a great time at DrupalCon Europe (Barcelona) 2024! It was amazing to connect with the members of the Drupal community and showcase our new offering - DrupalFit. I also got a chance to have a one-on-one conversation with Dries Buytaert about the potential of DrupalFit simplifying Drupal support and maintenance. We spoke about the rapidly evolving world of web development and how initiatives like DrupalFit can empower organizations to maximize their Drupal experience. His insights on innovation and community engagement were truly inspiring. My conversation with Tim Doyle was another insightful and informative discussion that I had at the event. It was inspiring to talk about the future of Drupal and how the community can collectively push boundaries. #OpenSenseLabs #DrupalFit #Drupal #DrupalCommunity #DrupalConBarcelona #OpenSource #WebDevelopment #Innovation #CommunityEngagement #Networking #Barcelona

I’m one of the candidates for DrupalSouth steering committee seat (voting closes Monday 4 Nov 2024). This is the last day to vote for me and see other candidates here: https://lnkd.in/gP_AN_qk In the meantime I had a good chat with the lovely people of The Drop Times. I’ll be posting some fragments of our conversation. Q: What do you think are the main barriers preventing more students from engaging with #Drupal, and how can these be addressed? A: There are a number of issues. In my opinion, the two main issues are: - Lack of up to date documentation. Number of teachers were confused with Drupal versioning and how to find up to date documentation. Imagine how students navigate this terrain! - Despite all the talk, Drupal is still an island. Academia is not always aware of Drupal’s strengths as a technology, often choosing from the more popular open source technologies or alternative enterprise technologies.

Quick question for my network! I recently got a new job working for the library and was looking into what kind of tech roles they offer, and it looks like they are running Drupal with Twig. After doing a little bit of research, it looks like Drupal is pretty robust and used for large scale apps (or apps that need scalability). I want to pick up some skills with Drupal, but starting my own project feels silly because I don't really have any ideas for something that would necessarily need this stack. I'm curious if anyone knows of any open source projects that I could jump in on, or if anyone has created their own projects with Drupal? Any and all tips accepted! #Drupal #DevQuestion #DevAdvice #OpenSource
