There's been a lot of research into social housing for calves over the last several years, but what have we learned? This review discusses how we can accommodate natural social behavior in commercial dairy herds by considering age at introduction, the environment in which they're housed, among many other aspects. What an interesting model to bring broadband to rural areas! Working for an open access PUD network I can see how this could be successful.
Vermonters saw a lack of interest from private providers to invest in the sparsely populated rural state and recognized that communities needed to address the problem themselves. Read the state's story. https://lnkd.in/erjhvP7N

My graduate thesis is now available on the Oregon State University Scholars Archive. In my research, my findings highlight the need for more adaptable public funding structures to better serve the full spectrum of rural housing need. The findings also suggest that leveraging both public and private capital in balanced measures could enhance the efficacy and reach of rural community land trusts in particular. It is my hope that my research will contribute to the understanding of the effective funding dynamics in rural shared equity homeownership models. I want to help policymakers and private funders alike to more successfully support rural communities through improved mechanisms for sustainable housing investment. https://lnkd.in/gUv-4F7a. #communitylandtrusts #CLTs #sharedequityhousing #housingsolutions

Identifying the right research questions outlines the path necessary for effective social policy responses. *FULL STOP* Without a path, we will continue to live in a worsening housing crisis. We cannot identify effective and meaningful policy research questions without engaging a diverse range of stakeholders. Without diverse representation we will fail to identify the most pressing issues, and our solutions will not support or resonate with the lived experiences of those most affected. This article explains how we have lost sight of this... "the committee was set to meet five times to talk about research questions, data sources and the methodology." What a terrible outcome for all social policy studies.

“A change of user is a legal and administrative process that allows a landowner to alter the designated use of their land to align with their intended purpose. For instance, if you purchase agricultural land with the intention of utilizing it for commercial purposes, you must seek approval for this change of use. The change of use process is crucial for accommodating urbanization, economic growth, and evolving community needs.” Stella Njagi - Gikonyo Christopher Muchiri But how do we balance this crucial procedure with development objectives and community rights?
