In 1963, car enthusiasts around the world were amazed by the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with retractable headlights and a rear window split in half. The streamlined car had independent suspension of all wheels, and also became the first American car with disc brakes in front and rear. Even at that time the car was equipped with air conditioning and power seats. Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, history of Chevrolet Corvette The 1971 Chevrolet Corvette was equipped with a 7.5-liter engine Photo: General Motors Initially, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray retained the engines of its predecessor, but over time, the lineup included a 7.0-liter V8 with an output of up to 435 hp. Such sports cars accelerated to a hundred in 5 seconds and developed 240 km/h. However, the limited 560-horsepower Corvette L88 of 1967 surpassed everyone - it reached 275 km/h and could compete with much more expensive Ferrari and Lamborghini. L88 achieved considerable success in races. Now such cars cost millions of dollars. #chevroletcorvette #chevystingray #zr1 #historyofcorvette #musclecarmonday

The 1967 Chevy Corvette, the 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL, any pre-1974 Porsche 911–these are some of the vehicles that have earned a significant place in automotive history. These automotive legends have weathered the decades, but with some ingenuity, you can still get behind the wheel of most of them. Here's our list of the ones worth the hunt: Jaguar E-Type Chevrolet Corvette Lamborghini Miura Porsche 911 Rolls-Royce Dawn Drophead Mercedes SL 300 Gullwing Ferrari 250 GTO Aston Martin DB4 BMW 3.0 CSL Shelby GT350 Ford Model T VW Beetle (pre-facelift) Ferrari 308 GTS Vintage Jeep Although these are on the list for most car enthusiasts, here at Magna Thomson we believe every car is a classic, and should be transported and stored as if it the best vintage around. https://lnkd.in/eQsBmN7m #carstorage #cartransportation #vehicletransfer #moving #movingservices #movingcompany #magnathomson #twosday #tuesdaytips #classiccars #vintagecars #car #bakkie #SUV #musclecars #movers #transportation #storage #storageoptions #carlovers #carcollections #carenthusiasts #carlove #4x4 #movingsolutions

In hindsight, some of Porsche’s decisions through their period of reorientation in the 80s and 90s seem to be a bit odd. While preparations were underway to present the new Porsche Boxster Concept at the 1993 Detroit Motor Show, the Porsche 968 Turbo S was one of Zuffenhausen’s fastest cars. A car for which not even a modern comparison can be made. It was so far detached from the rest of Porsche’s lineup. Its recipe: in-line four-cylinder turbo engine at the front, lightweight construction wherever possible and performance on a par with the Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6. Probably too much for the die-hard Porsche fans. Because despite plenty of arguments on its side, it flopped commercially like no Porsche before or after it. #cars #elferspot #porsche

A car ahead of its time - the Porsche 959! This particular example is the Gruppe B prototype. It was originally shown off at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show as a concept for the Group B Rally Championship. However, the Group B era came to an abrupt end in 1986 following the incident at Tour de Corse. Effectively cancelling the series. So Porsche switched focus. The 959 Gruppe B prototype was now the springboard for the 959 road car that we all know today. The road car itself was technological wonder for the time. Sporting a sequential Twin Turbo 2.8L Flat-Six making nearly 450hp, mated to a 6-Speed manual transmission with one gear named Gëlande or "Terrain", as it was originally developed for rallying. The 959 also featured the formidable PSK (Porsche Steuer Kuppling) all-wheel drive system with on-the-fly torque split. All of this on the road was good for a verified 197mph and a 0-60 of 3.7 seconds. Both were good for Guinness World records for a production road car at the time. A lesser known fact though, Porsche actually lost money on every single example they built. Costing twice as much as the debut price at the time. Thus the low production run. A total of 292 customer cars were completed. Though 337 were made in total, including the 37 prototypes and pre-production models. Truly an iconic machine from an era of incredible cars. #porsche #959 #gruppeb #prototype #supercar #performance #speed #germany 🇩🇪 #Anis_Maaouia
