That's a wrap on The Catalyst Tour De Helix. Thank you to everyone who came down and supported us in raising money for BBC Children in Need. We cycled a total of 294km and have raised £200 as a centre, and £450 across the whole site so far. We cant wait to see how the rest of the Newcastle Helix do! Congratulations to James from NIHR Innovation Observatory for cycling the furthest at 41.3km, and UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing for being the most engaged team. It was also great to have some Oxford Innovation Space representation with us on the day. The raffle is still open for the rest of the week. You can get your tickets at reception to be in with a chance to win some great prizes. #childreninneed #thecatalyst #innovationcentre

Today is #InternationalWheelchairDay, the perfect day for me to share that on Sunday 21st April I will be wheeling the 2024 London Marathon to support Whizz Kidz. Over 75,000 young people in the UK need to use a wheelchair to be mobile. Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that meets their needs through local services. Whizz Kidz are there for all of them. Whizz Kidz are the UK’s leading charity supporting young wheelchair users up to 25 years old. They empower young wheelchair users with the equipment, support, and confidence-building experiences they need to take an active role in society. The Whizz Kidz goal is to create a movement for progress towards a more open and accessible world. All donations will go towards Whizz Kidz who will help support young wheelchair users in a number of ways. For example: 🟡 £45 could pay for a young wheelchair user to attend their local Whizz Kidz Club for an hour, reducing social isolation, and providing an opportunity to gain confidence. 🟡 £260 could enable Whizz Kidz to see a young person and their family at a local Mobility Clinic, where Therapists and Engineers will assess their needs and handover the right piece of equipment. 🟡 £1,000 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide an adapted trike for a disabled child. These adapted trikes give children a safe and fun way to exercise. 🟡 £3,700 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide a manual wheelchair for a disabled child, which is comfortable, well-fitting, and lightweight. 🟡 £5,500 could enable Whizz Kidz to provide a powered wheelchair, helping a child to participate fully at school and in social activities and allowing them to keep up with siblings and classmates. If you are able to, donations can be made via https://bit.ly/2024-LM thank you 💛 #InclusionRevolution #MoveALifeForward #LondonMarathon #Fundraising #Wheelchair #BeTheDifferenceGoTheDistance

An Equivalency Determination (ED) is one of two processes that enables American grantmakers to give tax-advantaged donations directly to international charities. While using an ED can be complex, it is a flexible and effective tool for funding projects with long-term impact. As an international grantmaking intermediary, CAF America is here to help US donors give safely to non-profit organizations around the world, including through EDs. Learn more about Equivalency Determinations and if it might be right for your giving in the first installment of our series exploring these tools and best practices for making regulatory compliant cross-border grants. https://lnkd.in/gb3hxUpw

The #DigitalDivide is more than a lack of access to modern #technology – it’s a missing link in communication, employability, and freedom. That’s why at the Sophie Hayes Foundation we not only recognise the impact of the digital divide but actively do all we can to bridge that gap and prepare survivors of #ModernSlavery and #HumanTrafficking for freedom in a world of modern technology. We would like to give a huge thank you to the team at the Allen Motor Group – comprised of Allen Ford, Essex Ford, and SMC Ford – for their tireless support. As we celebrate our partnership spanning over a year, together, we continue to drive positive change in the community. Their generous donations of IT equipment have, after being refurbished through our disposal service, helped to transform thousands of children’s and young people’s lives. The use of their Ford Custom Transit’s also facilitates our outreach efforts, ensuring that we can deliver as many laptops as possible to our partnered schools, charities, social services, and clubs. With the help of the Allen Motor Group team, we continue to bridge the digital divide. #everychildonline #itfullcircle #passiton #DigitalPoverty #DigitalInclusion #BridgeTheDigitalDivide #SustainableFuture #SustainableLiving #SocialValue #SocialImpact #AttainmentGap #EqualOpportunities #EducationEquality #InternetForAll #DigitalAccess #TechForGood #DigitalLiteracy #ClosingTheGap #digitaldivide #digitalisolation #sustainability #ESG #SocialValue #socialgood #schools #charities #sustainable Essex Ford, Allen Motor Group #EssexFord #EssexFordTransitCentre #AllenFord

Its common for an international #nonprofit to provide their employees with nice, modern SUVs to use while operating in impoverished areas 🚙 This led Steven Janssens, co-founder of Eight World to imagine what would happen if those funds went directly to the residents, instead of going toward the lease of the car 🤔 Head to www.eight.world to see the impact the direct cash-transfers have had. The results are life-changing 🙌 #thinkdesign #eightworld #donation #positiveimpact #directgiving #ubi #escapepoverty #softwaredevelopment #appdev #webdev #webdesign

We so often take privileges like internet access and devices for granted, which only furthers an exclusionary world increasingly being lived online. The #DigitalDivide is a massive issue for vulnerable groups such as survivors of #ModernSlavery who require access to these resources to successfully build a brighter future. For only £10, you can help a survivor access the internet for one month, exposing them to invaluable forms of communication, aid, and employment opportunities. You can change a life by clicking below: https://lnkd.in/eF8SUnDA #Donate

The British public contributed £1.2 billion more to charities last year than in 2022, raising the total donations to an impressive £13.9 billion. This significant increase, achieved amidst notable household financial pressures, showcases the UK’s generosity. However, our latest #UKGivingReport also casts light on pressing challenges: ♦️ There are fewer people regularly donating to charity compared to before the pandemic. ♦️ The real value of the typical charity donation is being outstripped by inflation. ♦️ The growth in the total donation amount is down to fewer individuals giving higher amounts, rather than an increase in participation. This underscores the need for a renewed focus on widening the donor base and ensuring that the generosity of the UK public continues to grow in both depth and breadth. For a deeper understanding of the current trends in UK giving, dive into the full UK Giving Report 2024: https://brnw.ch/21wIqK6 #UKGiving2024 #Philanthropy #Charity
