The Carbon Trust’s Post

We were thrilled to co-host an event earlier this week with BSI exploring the evolving ISO Net Zero Standard and its impact on advising businesses on their decarbonisation journeys. Together with other Net Zero service providers, we tackled shared challenges and opportunities in Net Zero governance. Key insights included: 🌍 How consequential leveraging the international standards system and quality infrastructure will be for Net Zero governance, in terms of increased accountability for companies, and because of the connection between standards, trade, and regulation 🏢 The unique role consultancies play in driving best practices and adoption of the upcoming ISO standard 🌱 The importance of engaging in Net Zero governance, such as participating in the ISO Net Zero Standard development process as the Carbon Trust is, to derisk advice, especially on emerging topics like carbon dioxide removals 💡 The role the Carbon Trust is playing in providing advice to clients aligned to the ISO Net Zero Guidelines, which will form the foundation of the ISO standard   Special thanks to our external speakers Shana Gallagher for explaining how the ISO Net Zero Standard that is currently in development will change how Net Zero is governed globally, and to John Lang for walking everyone through the Net Zero 'conveyor belt' model. And thanks to our experts Imogen Catterall, Sarah Jardine, and John Kazer for sharing their insights.
