The Commission has published a guidance document on the validity of clinical studies for joint clinical assessments under the EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation, adopted by the Member State Coordination Group. This guidance helps to define, classify, and assess the certainty of clinical study results in an objective, reproducible and transparent way. It covers the analysis of data from different types of single clinical studies.

Related to my doctoral thesis topic, I shared my thoughts about the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and health data processing in scientific research and development. Shortly, the new EU-wide EHDS regulation is expected to provide more options for scientific research and development with health data, as health data holders will be mandatorily required to enable such use. The regulation is expected to be adopted this autumn, while the chapter on the secondary use of data will enter into force four years later. However, as the act is complicated, discussions and implementation preparations should start now to achieve the best outcome.
