Is Skipping Software QA Really Saving Time or Budget? When assembling an Agile Team pods for our customers, we often hear: “We’ll handle testing in-house.” But is this really saving time, budget or is it just delaying issues until later in the dev process? Upon discussing it with our Head of Product Delivery, Umesh Chandra and our product leaders, here’s what we’ve observed: 🧪 Functional vs. Acceptance Testing These are not interchangeable. Integrated testing may cover functionality, but acceptance testing ensures the product meets user needs. One doesn’t replace the other. 👬Including QA in Agile Teams When QA is part of the sprint, they don’t just catch bugs, they document use cases and test cases that improve the product and ensure smoother customer journey. This parallel documentation can save significant time in the future. 🚀Integrated QA = Long-term Efficiency Skipping a dedicated QA team may save a few dollars now, but delays, rework, and missed issues pile up over time. Investing in integrated QA can accelerate development while maintaining product quality. Integrating QA early isn’t just a cost, it’s an investment that will be a time saver and a quality booster for the long haul. Are you getting the most from your QA process? —- 👋🏽 I help founders, funded startups, and enterprises with Innovation, AI, Agile Product Team Pods and Product-Market Fit (PMF). Is proper QA setup crucial for startups? Working with 50+ startups, I've seen the trend: DevOps > QA. This works... until it doesn't. Not prioritizing the testing and observability can take away from your team a lot of hours of important work in favor of fixing bugs that went through or finding problems when you have minimal observability over the pipelines and infrastructure. There is a dilemma with missing QA processes for your team. Consider this: you decided to focus the budget and effort more on the development side. Of course, you tried to have unit tests and maybe added some extra layer of testing with the hands of developers. Your team loves devops principles, they try to have frequent changes, in small batch sizes, and you see a lot of changes coming to your staging (or production if you launched already). But users start flooding in with error reports. After a frantic bug hunt, you find the problem buried in your database. No idea how long it's been there. No clue which changes made it critical. 1️⃣What usually happens next? When developers have uncertainty they go a safer route 👉🏻 they try to push not so often. 2️⃣What happens then? the batch sizes become bigger. the more developers and teams you have ▶️ the slower the process can become. If you had a better testing process and more observability - it's much less likely that you could end up in this situation. I believe QA and DevOps teams should have synergy when establishing the testing processes. It will boost not only the quality of your codebase but also the velocity at which your codebase is shipped from local environments to staging. I'm not saying production yet, because I want to cover in more detail how to do testing in such a way so it doesn't slow down the development a lot. Otherwise, why do you need quick delivery to staging if your QA team is a bottleneck? What’s your take on integrating QA and DevOps for a smoother pipeline? #devops | #qa | #testing | #observability

Scrum, Kanban… or Firehouse? Presenting an Agile Alternative for Startups Scrum and Kanban are excellent Agile frameworks widely used in software development. Each brings value in different ways: Scrum is highly effective for project-based work with structured sprints, while Kanban excels in managing continuous, ongoing work with a focus on flow. However, after working with two startups, I believe there’s a need for an Agile methodology that more closely resembles the dynamic and adaptive nature of a firehouse responding to emergencies. Startups, after all, often feel like they’re constantly “fighting fires.” https://lnkd.in/eb5auTpu

🚀 The Importance of a Quality-First Mindset Across Teams 🛠️ As a QA Lead with over 11 years of experience, I've seen one truth consistently emerge: Quality is everyone’s responsibility. Yet, too often, quality assurance is treated as the final checkpoint, a siloed effort limited to the QA team. In today’s fast-paced development cycles—where Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD are the norms—this approach is no longer sustainable. Here’s why adopting a quality-first mindset across teams is critical: 💡 1. Quality Begins at the Requirements Stage A clear, collaborative discussion at the very start ensures fewer ambiguities and defects downstream. When developers, testers, product owners, and designers align early, quality is baked in—not patched later. 💡 2. Developers as the First Line of Defense By encouraging developers to adopt practices like test-driven development (TDD) and rigorous code reviews, we shift left, catching bugs before they reach QA. 💡 3. Empowering QA as Quality Enablers QA teams aren’t just testers—they are quality advocates. A quality-first mindset means QA leads the charge in educating, guiding, and collaborating with teams to build robust processes. 💡 4. Continuous Feedback Loops Whether through automated testing, performance monitoring, or user feedback, creating a feedback-rich environment ensures quality at every stage of development. 💡 5. Culture of Accountability When every team member—regardless of role—feels ownership over quality, the results are profound: fewer bugs, higher customer satisfaction, and faster time-to-market. ✨ The key takeaway? Quality isn’t a task; it’s a mindset. By fostering collaboration, empowering teams, and integrating quality practices throughout the SDLC, we can deliver products that exceed expectations. Let’s start a conversation: ➡️ How do you promote a quality-first mindset in your teams? ➡️ What challenges have you faced in implementing it? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences! 👇 #QualityFirst #SoftwareTesting #TeamCollaboration #Agile #QALeadership

With evolving industry practices, R&D teams often find themselves stepping into the shoes of QA. Why is this happening? 🔄 **Shared Responsibility for Quality**: Modern development demands that everyone, including R&D, owns the quality. 🧪 **Shift-Left Approach**: The focus is on catching bugs early, leading developers to take on more testing tasks. 🤝 **Collaboration & Accountability**: Efficient teams are ensuring that quality isn't just a QA job but a joint effort. While these trends foster better products, they also highlight a potential overlap between roles. How are your teams adapting to these changes? #ProductDevelopment #QualityAssurance #DevOps #Agile #SoftwareDevelopment #ShiftLeft

🚀 The Role of Testing-Driven Development (TDD) in Agile 🚀 🔍 Testing-Driven Development (TDD) plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality software within #Agile environments. At Tagamuta Valley , we integrate #TDD throughout the development process, ensuring that tests guide and validate the code as it’s written, while keeping the #functionality 🛠️ and #requirements in focus. 📋 At Tagamuta Valley, we use TDD to enhance our Agile methodology 📈, allowing us to deliver #reliable ⚙️ and #maintainable code faster. This process helps catch issues early 🐞, reducing the time spent on fixing bugs and improving overall #efficiency 💡. In TDD, developers first write a #test case ✅ based on the desired functionality. Afterward, they write the code to pass the test 💻, followed by #refactoring 🔄 to optimize the solution. This iterative approach fits perfectly within Agile principles 🔄, ensuring constant feedback and continuous improvement 🔄✨. By adopting TDD, our team ensures that each piece of code meets the exact requirements 📏 and performs as expected 🎯. This reduces #technical debt 📉 and improves long-term software #quality 🏅, enabling us to deliver #high-value products for our clients. TDD and Agile together create a powerful combination 💪, helping us deliver robust software in a #fast-paced 🚀 and #adaptive development environment 🌐. Let’s continue to innovate and build quality software, one test at a time. 💡💻🚀 #TDD #Agile #SoftwareDevelopment #Testing #QualityAssurance #TagamutaValley
