Don't need the monster SUV, but this Kia + Wallbox V2H/V2G project is one I'm keeping my eyes on. IMO, bidirectional charging is the gamechanger that will simultaneously unlock the EV market and also accelerate development of a cleaner grid. Built in home backup will make EV's a no-brainer for many folks, and when the smart ones figure out they can profit by selling power back to the grid at certain times of day, the will directly lower the cost of EV's for consumers. Biggest question I have from the video here is changeover time which looks to be currently farm from instantaneous. For me, also key questions on compatibility/integrations with other installed home systems (e.g. logical integration with Tesla Powerwall gateway). I don't like limitations and I like being prepared. My Webasto Americas Go portable EV chargers have swappable plugs. They came with NEMA-14-50 and Nema 5-15 plugs, but what if I the outlets I find are at a trailer/RV park or campground? Sometimes those use different plug/outlet designs. Solution! I found replacement plugs on the GM parts website: ( https://lnkd.in/e6GVa6bD and https://lnkd.in/ed6z7MRA ). I bought two more plugs, the NEMA 14-30 and NEMA TT-30. In case you didn't know, many of the OEMs that offered chargers with their EVs, like Mercedes Benz, used Webasto Go chargers that were branded differently. I just received the new plugs today and checked to make sure they plug into my charger. (They do.) Now, all I need is a couple outlets to test them on! (TT-30 & 14-30) BTW: You can find brand new, still in shrink-wrap Webasto Go chargers on eBay. The ad may not mention the Webast name, so just look for portable EV chargers. Retail, they go for $500. On eBay, I picked up two for about $250 each.
