Don't forget to reflect on how far you've come 👀 Some days are sh*t aren't they? I have my fair share 💩 When you have one of them days, think about other times you felt this way and think about where you are now. I had my own time of reflection and finding this helped (see slides for some LOLs 😂) A deck to try and generate interest in a tool we were building... we called it Volunteero (and yes we know, its a banging name).. Of course we don't use anything as archaic as sales decks now, we use trumpet 🎺 Nick Telson-Sillett, Russell Mitchell, 🎺 Rory Sadler The product shots weren't even real... I whipped them up in Figma whilst we built the real thing 😅 A little fake it till you make it... Founders will know that well. 3 months after this, we had our first pilot client 6 months after this, we made our first revenue 2 years later, we raised money from our dream investors 3 years later, we have almost 100 clients spanning two continents, thousands of staff users, tens of thousands of volunteer users, #1 on the app store for volunteering... and we are just getting started. 🎨 Weekly Update from the ArtCracker Team 🎨 Hello everyone, we have some exciting news and updates to share with you: 1. Open Call for Artists and Galleries: We've launched an open call and already received some great responses! We're starting to add your works to our database, and soon we'll be able to showcase how our app recognizes contemporary artists' work. First Pitching Session: Our co-founders attended their first pitching session, presenting the project to investors and judges. We received lots of compliments and support from new users, including some from other startups. Additionally, a crowdfunding platform suggested we consider a campaign to support Israeli artists who want to feature their works in our art database. 3. New Feature on iOS: We added the ability to donate to us directly within the app, without needing to visit an external site, with just one click. It was a long journey, but it was definitely worth it! 4. Our Community is Growing: As of today, 4600 people from around the world have downloaded our app. This is an amazing achievement that not only makes us happy but also motivates us to keep improving for you. Yesterday was a testament to the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the startup ecosystem. In the morning, we had a fantastic meeting with Membrz.Club, a company trying to solve the same issues but with a different community. We discussed how we at Tipme solved our pain points and shared our experiences, especially regarding the payment process that we developed in partnership with Eupago and MBWay. It's always fulfilling to help others by providing valuable feedback on our journey. Later in the day, we had the opportunity to learn from Blerp, a company with a larger community and amazing features. We explored potential collaborations to enhance our platform and discussed strategies to help us internationalize. Additionally, we’re thrilled to start giving back to our community with our first Giveaway, which will offer the winner at least three months of content for their livestreams. Shoutout to my business partner and CTO, Gonçalo Marques, who has worked tirelessly with me. We're excited to roll out a new layout in the following days, featuring our revised donation payment form. I firmly believe that in our industry, we don't have competitors; we have partners to create amazing collabs. Yesterday's experiences reaffirmed this belief. Sharing our knowledge and then receiving insights in return was incredibly enriching. Waking up and learning about the timely demise of the Panier Bleu (https://lnkd.in/eKD54j55) this morning makes me want to salut all of the highly-vaunted web projects that are dreamed up for other people to use (i.e. that don't solve a problem that anyone actually has) and that, too often, are picked for funding from government & foundation funders. Jed Sundwall from @RadiantEarth describes them perfectly here in his blog post Unicorns, Show Ponies, and Gazelles: https://lnkd.in/ez7aJC5X "I call these Show Ponies because they don’t exist as part of a natural ecosystem. They exist to be touted. The Show Pony’s natural habitat is a conference. You rarely see them in the real world. Unlike with the Unicorns, I won’t name examples because I know and love many people who work on Show Ponies for a living." "Show Ponies are typically built with limited grant funding that is allocated on a project basis. Sometimes they’re created merely to be a proof of concept. In other cases, their funders hope that “if you build it, they will come.” But because Show Ponies are usually funded by governments or non-profit organizations, they rarely have a revenue model. So even if they do gain traction and users, a Show Pony’s continued existence depends on continued support from governments or philanthropy rather than their users. This is a fragile existence, and the Internet is littered with neglected Show Ponies that aren’t being maintained." To be clear, I don't have a problem with websites (or other internet infrastructure) that depends on government funding or donations to exist (e.g. Wikipedia) but when funders support pilot projects that have no possible viable business model, they're using scarce resources while not doing anyone a favour. Fundraising is broken so lets break it some more. This is the soft launch of a raise for my venture studio 💰💰💰 I want this raise to be different, and instead of selling %, I am going to raise through revenue in a few creative ways. MENTAL, RIGHT!! So how will I get this revenue? 1. Contributions (I know this is basically cheating but I might as well add it 😂 ) 2. Selling my time (I’m pretty good at validation, no-code, and launching businesses) 3. Advertising (might even sell ad space on my forehead) 4. Products that create leasing connections around products. Think about companies like Figma, GitHub, Hugging Face, or Unity. These platforms connect users in powerful ways. This allows for: 1️⃣ Early product feedback. Users become part of the development process, leading to better products. 2️⃣ Building loyalty. People feel invested in something they helped create. 3️⃣ Evangelism. Passionate users become advocates, spreading the word organically. This journey with Sanza has been crazy but in a good way! From not knowing what Sanza was going to be. To buying the Sanza domain without a clear plan (yeah, I do that for every Idea I have #ADHD). 📣 To creating an Instagram page just to spread the word about cycle syncing. 🤳 To realizing Sanza needed to be a digital solution. ✅ To apply to accelerators and get in. 🎤 To pitching on stage at Web Summit. 🎓 To applying to Start it Accelerate | @KBC. 😭 To not getting into YC on my first try (better luck this time, right? 😅). 📋 To conducting over 100 interviews to validate Sanza. 👯♀️ To meeting some of the most amazing people in #Femtech and #Femhealth. 👩👩👧👦 To growing my team. 👪 To reducing it. ❤️ To Last week, pitching at Love Tomorrow and even getting a small mention in LaLibre.
