Christmas came early for the Sachlos Stem Cell Engineering Lab! We are beyond excited to announce the installation of the first-in-Canada Agilent Technologies Novocyte Opteon spectral flow cytometer. This state-of-the-art system has already wowed us with its performance, as we successfully ran an 18-colour panel on its 3-laser setup on the first day operation. The ease of use, flexibility, and sensitivity are truly impressive! Spectral (or full-spectrum) flow cytometry is a game-changer for multiparameter marker analysis, and we can’t wait to leverage this technology to delve deeper into stem cell and cancer biology. The addition of the Novosampler enables high-throughput acquisition from 96- or 384-microwell plates, opening up exciting possibilities for our high content drug screening campaigns. A huge thank you to Canada Foundation for Innovation/Fondation canadienne pour l'innovation for the John R. Evans Leaders Fund award for funding this cutting-edge “Xmas gift” and keeping Canada at the forefront of life science innovation. The future of discovery in our lab just got even brighter!
