On Tyranny is a little book with the potential for big impact, especially right now when many of us are looking for action as the antidote to despair in the US. The election results of 2024 were not a mandate for the incoming regime, and we are not powerless to protect our democracy. While the author has provided twenty lessons with historical context, I’ve picked ten (I combined two) that can be translated into action; things we can do now to build the muscle for January 2025 when we are going to be asked to do even more to stand up for what is right, just, and slows down the train wreck we are beginning to witness. What actions are you taking to uphold and protect democracy in the US? https://lnkd.in/gPQmjAD4 #ontyranny #timothysnyder #upholddemocracy #takeaction.

I follow Snyder on Substack; he offers very worthwhile discussion. I will tell you my answer to your question. I've written it in blog format on my website (linked). In capsule form: we should use the weapons we're most skilled with and can achieve the most, and focus on them. There is much that I could do, but ineffectively. And what I can do effectively may not seem like politics, but it supports the effort. So that's where I'll stay. My writing is my weapon. https://jaynasheats.com/literature-politics-and-gender-affirmation/
