One challenge that news SEOs occasionally face is creating an evergreen content strategy because evergreen content isn’t exactly news. 🌲 Even though evergreen content for news sites seems counterintuitive, it isn’t. For evergreen content to benefit both the site and the readers, it has to be rooted in the news, which makes it newsy. And because it’s newsy, having an evergreen content strategy helps newsrooms create more content around a new idea, subject or event, and it can help sites rank for breaking news topics without actually breaking the news. The most straightforward topic for news evergreen content is explainers. Explainers are a great way to create factual, serviceable content about an event or person that informs your readers and creates background information about a person or event that you can link to repeatedly. Another benefit of explainers is that they provide the background information that your readers might otherwise leave your site to find. This keeps your readers on your site, reading your content. Good content isn't enough for Google. I've blogged about the importance of content several times, particularly in light of the Google Core Update in August. However, curating excellent content isn't always the winning strategy it might seem. https://lnkd.in/ezsYkCCu #seotips #content #contentcreation #digitalmarketing #marketing #newcastle #seo #google #search

SEO is dead! How many times have you seen this post title – SEO is dead! In this scenario, just picture someone with immense expertise of 60 seconds reading a blog title ‘SEO is Dead’ and still ponder if it’s true! The irony here is that they do that on the recommendation of another expert. But the funny thing about this content marketing meme is that they don’t realize that this search result is because of this ‘dead’ service. Take a look to understand this funny content marketing meme! #contentmarketing #contentcreation #seo #meme

I love companies that publish lousy content. Every piece of biased, self-serving content that’s out there ranking highly in Google is just an opportunity for me to steal all of your rankings — zero backlink building required. So if you want to keep publishing “best tools” posts that: • make your product sound like the holy grail and every other product sound like garbage • present your product as the best option for everything even when it isn’t • are written by people who’ve never actually used any of the tools you’re recommending Please feel free. You’re making my job so much easier. But you should know that lousy content is bad for a lot of reasons beyond just the potential that I might come along and steal your rankings. Lousy content erodes prospects’ trust. It’s the used car salesman of the digital marketing realm. Lousy content delivers lousy, unqualified leads who waste your sales team’s time. Lousy content gives your competitors the opportunity to control the narrative about your product. So if you’re publishing lousy content, you might want to rethink your strategy. But how do you know if your content is lousy? That’s the topic of my newsletter this week. Check it out to learn what bad purchase-intent content looks like, discover the qualities of good purchase-intent content, and see some real examples of purchase-intent blog posts that get it right. Google is at it again. The integration of Gemini with search reinforces something to me. Content marketing is so much more than just SEO. When you say content marketing, many people think it's just writing blog content for search engines. SEO is a great distribution strategy, but it shouldn't be the only aspect of your content strategy. I'm doing a much deeper dive on this in the next edition of The Marketing Roundup newsletter. Curious? Subscribe so you don't miss it www.bit.ly/r0undup
