🌍Happy World Environment Day 2024: #GenerationRestoration🌍 At Teren, we recognize the critical importance of land restoration, especially in the aftermath of #wildfires. That's why this year's World Environment Day theme spotlighting #landrestoration resonates deeply with our work. Wildfires have devastating impacts on our landscapes, communities, and ecosystems. The focus has traditionally been on prevention and immediate response, but the journey doesn't end once the flames are out. Post-wildfire restoration is crucial to rebuilding resilient ecosystems and supporting biodiversity recovery. Our work with USDA-NRCS New Mexico in the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon fires show how #geospatial technology and high-resolution imagery can be harnessed to optimize recovery efforts: https://hubs.ly/Q02zLx160 By prioritizing post-wildfire restoration, we can ensure that our lands not only recover but thrive, contributing to a healthier planet for future generations. 🌱 #WorldEnvironmentDay #UNEP #PostWildfireRecovery #SustainableFuture #LandRestoration #ClimateImpactAI

In case you do not know :o) - Blue carbon ecosystems, like mangroves, marshes, and seagrasses, are vital coastal habitats. They're great at storing carbon in plants and sediments. Mangroves, often overlooked yet indispensable, play a pivotal role in the battle against climate change, providing habitats for diverse wildlife and shielding coastal communities from natural calamities. Exciting news from FORLIANCE! We're delighted to introduce our revolutionary mangrove methodology, developed in partnership with Gold Standard. Our pioneering approach offers a comprehensive strategy for sustainably managing and restoring mangrove ecosystems on a global scale. Let us support your early-stage climate project with our technical expertise and extensive network of specialists. Send me a PM if you have a blue forest project in your hands and you consider it a potential carbon one! #FORLIANCE #MangroveMethodology #ClimateAction #Sustainability #GoldStandard

🌳 Race to Save Imperiled Trees with The Nature Conservancy 🌳 In the summer of 2023, we were honored to join forces with The Nature Conservancy to document their critical work in saving some of North America's most imperiled trees. These trees, under siege from invasive pests and diseases, play a vital role in maintaining the health of forests, wildlife, climate, and culture. Check out our video: https://lnkd.in/emdKsAWb Our team was tasked with capturing both still photos and video footage, offering a glimpse into the efforts of researchers racing against time to breed trees resistant to these existential threats. It's a race that goes beyond saving individual trees; it's about preserving ecosystems, safeguarding biodiversity, and securing our planet's natural heritage. We witnessed the dedication, innovation, and urgency driving this conservation initiative. Join us in raising awareness about the importance of protecting our forests and supporting organizations like The Nature Conservancy in their mission to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. #NatureConservation #ImperiledTrees #ClimateAction #Biodiversity #ReelQuestFilms #TheNatureConservancy

Tijuana Estuary Part II: Did you know the Tijuana Estuary is home to hundreds of species and plays a major role in keeping our ecosystem in check? From filtering water before it hits the ocean to providing a cozy stopover for migratory birds, this natural wonder is a safe haven for Southern California’s biodiversity. But, like many places, the Tijuana Estuary faces growing risks from climate change—rising sea levels, habitat loss, pollution, and increased flooding are all threatening this unique ecosystem. So, how can we help? By protecting wetlands, supporting restoration efforts, and reducing our carbon footprints, we can help safeguard this vital natural heritage for future generations! #HeritagePreservation #CulturalConnections #Storytelling #TijuanaEstuary #NaturalHeritage #ClimateAction #SaveOurEstuaries #Biodiversity International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Climate Heritage Network, National Geographic Society, California State Parks, California State Parks Foundation, Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, Kristen A. At 52impact, a lot of our work relates to environmental improvements. A great example is the development of Orbit Guardian (funded by European Space Agency - ESA) together with our partner S[&]T, helping countries with assessing inland water quality and related stressors - for instance for Sustainable Development Goal 6.3. #SDG #Environment #WorldEnvironmentDay #Impact #SatelliteMonitoring
🌍🌱 This 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆, we join the global call for land restoration, desertification prevention, and drought resilience. 40% of our planet’s land is degraded, impacting billions of lives. The thought of this issue is unsettling, yet it is the truth that we need to acknowledge. Land restoration is the key pillar of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Reservation, a call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world. At S[&]T, we contribute to this effort by using Earth Observation data for ecosystem preservation. Our comprehensive ecosystem monitoring and assessment services pinpoint vulnerable areas and track biodiversity. By mapping and analysing ecosystem health, we empower stakeholders to implement sustainable land management and conservation strategies, including land restoration. For example, see below a visualisation of Orbit Guardian, a monitoring system developed alongside 52impact, that tracks essential parameters regarding inland water quality in remote locations. Let’s build a resilient future together. Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration. #WorldEnvironmentDay #Environment #Sustainability

As terrifying as it is tragic. Ecosystems and ecosystem services are perpetually undervalued and dismissed. They are vital to all living things on this planet. #climatechange #ecosystems #ecosystemcollapse

Excited to get our demo mangrove nursery project started! Yes, we are a "Coral Innovation Hub," but habitats do not exist in a vacuum. Mangroves, seagrass and coral reefs are integrally intertwined, and a fully functioning coastal spectrum of these interconnected habitats not only provides crucial shelter for marine organisms at various life stages, it is also crucial in the fight against climate change. These ecosystems protect coastal communities and infrastructure from the impacts of storms, and mangrove forests can store up to 10 times more carbon than terrestrial forests. A "holistic" restoration approach could provide far more value over the long term than a singular focus on one particular component of the system. #naturebasedsolutions #bluecarbon #coastalrestoration

"This annual #EarthDay Doodle features aerial photos of the planet's natural beauty and #biodiversity and reminds us of the importance of protecting it for future generations. The Google letters showcase some of the places across the globe where people, communities and governments work every day to help protect the planet’s natural beauty, biodiversity and resources. These examples offer the promise of hope and optimism, but also remind us that THERE'S MUCH MORE TO DO TO ADDRESS THE #CLIMATECRISIS AND #BIODIVERSITYLOSS: https://lnkd.in/d9WPdj4b

Rewilding is a #conservation method with a focus on the restoration of wild animal populations, whilst restoring habitats and eliminating threats different #species face. This helps to create resilient ecosystems and a resilient planet, providing inspiration for a #sustainable future. Traditionally, rewilding projects have focused on land. But this World Rewilding Day, we're focusing on the other 71% of the planet - the ocean. That's where you come in. We need to re-whale the ocean! We know that whales are our climate allies, helping the #ocean absorb more carbon and release more oxygen than all of Earth's forests combined, just by existing. We need to restore the number of #whales and #dolphins to their pre-hunting populations to help re-whale the ocean but we can only do this with your help. #HopeIntoAction #RewildlingDay2024
