National Holidays in Chile: The Origin and Meaning of the Celebrations of September 18 🇨🇱 Every year, Chile celebrates its Fiestas Patrias on September 18, a date full of tradition, joy, and national pride. But what is the origin and significance of this important holiday? The 18th of September marks the first meeting of the Government Junta in 1810, an event that initiated Chile's process of independence from Spain. It symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter in Chilean history, one where the nation would gradually gain its autonomy. Today, the celebrations last several days and include: 🎉 Traditional Dances: The cueca is the national dance, performed across the country during the celebrations. 🥩 Food and Drinks: Chilean barbecues (asados), empanadas, and traditional drinks like chicha and pisco are central to the festivities. 🎶 Festivals and Parades: From local Fondas (festive markets) to official military parades, the streets fill with people celebrating their culture and history. This holiday is not just about remembering the past but also celebrating the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of Chile. How do you celebrate Chile’s Fiestas Patrias? Share your thoughts below! 🇨🇱 #FiestasPatrias #Chile #September18 #ChileanIndependence #Traditions #Cueca #NationalHolidays #Celebración

May 8. May-8. Mate. 🤝 Today is the 8th of May, and while you might not recognise the date (and might not have any idea what it’s symbolic of), we’re here to tell you that today IS pretty important for some of us. Suggested as a better, more appropriate and respectful day to celebrate ‘Australia Day’ (which we, here at EVER, do not celebrate on the 26th of January), the 8th of May is a day to focus on friendship and connection. If you, like us, don’t celebrate the 26th of January, and are looking for a different day to love our country and the people who live here, it might be worth considering May 8. On May 5, 1862, Mexican forces -- largely outnumbered by French forces -- achieved an unlikely victory in the Battle of Puebla. Mexico lost fewer than 100 out of 2,000 men in the battle, while France lost about 500 out of 6,000 men. The Battle of Puebla was not a major strategic win for Mexico in the Franco-Mexican War, experts say, but the unlikely victory served as a symbolic victory for the Mexican government. France did not withdraw from Mexico until 1867. Many Americans now view the annual holiday as a day to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage. The holiday is often recognized through parades, parties and indulging in traditional Mexican foods and drink. While it is celebrated across the U.S., Cinco celebrations are particularly popular in regions with significant Mexican-American populations. But it’s important to remember that the day isn’t just about margaritas and colorful garb. If you do opt to to commemorate Cinco de Mayo, keep in mind the day’s historical significance, and our dear Mexico's rich history and culture.

Few notable international and national days on September 24: #World Maritime Day Recognizes the importance of the maritime industry and its contribution to the global economy. #Heritage Day (South Africa) Celebrated annually, this day encourages South Africans to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions. #Republic Day (Guinea-Bissau) Commemorates the independence of Guinea-Bissau from Portugal in 1973. #Constitution Day (Cambodia) Marks the adoption of the Constitution of Cambodia in 1993. #National Cherries Jubilee Day Smitten with this simply elegant dessert, cherry lovers celebrate this sweet holiday with delight. Auguste Escoffier receives the credit for the Cherries Jubilee recipe. Since he knew Queen Victoria's fondness for cherries, Escoffier prepared the dish for one of her Jubilee celebrations. However, his original method didn't include ice cream. Instead, the chef poached the cherries in a simple syrup and poured warm brandy over them. Then just before serving, dramatically set the alcohol aflame. Later recipes added the liqueur Kirschwasser and ice cream. #National Punctuation Day A period, a comma, a semicolon, a question mark, and an exclamation point are examples of some of the punctuation used in writing. They separate sentences and their elements to clarify meaning. Without them, meaning would be lost or up for interpretation. Across the country, punctuation events test skills, educate and even poke fun at some of those embarrassing errors. These events often highlight cultural, historical, and environmental themes.

As we gather to celebrate Independence Day, one of the most exciting parts of the festivities is the brilliant display of fireworks lighting up the night sky. But have you ever wondered what makes those fireworks so spectacular? The answer lies in the magic of metals! Different metals and metal compounds are essential for creating the vivid colors and effects we love: Strontium produces bright reds. Barium creates stunning greens. Sodium gives off intense yellows. Copper brings out deep blues. Aluminum adds the shimmering whites and silvers. These metals, when combined with other chemicals, produce the awe-inspiring displays that are a hallmark of our Fourth of July celebrations. At Cozzi Recycling, we understand the value of metals—not only in creating unforgettable experiences but also in their potential for recycling and sustainability. By recycling metals, we reduce waste, conserve resources, and minimize environmental impact, ensuring that the beauty we create today doesn't come at the cost of our future. This Independence Day, as we enjoy the fireworks, let's also reflect on the importance of sustainable practices and the role that metal recycling plays in preserving our environment. Wishing everyone a safe and spectacular Fourth of July!
