Employee wellbeing is now one of the biggest determinants of productivity, performance, and profitability. If it isn’t already, it should be a key priority for all organisations – large and small. But we know it evolves quickly, it’s personal and it means different things to different people, so it can be challenging to create global wellbeing strategies that work for everyone. In our latest ‘Perspectives by Bupa Global’ event that returned earlier this week, Carl Blake, Partnerships Development Director, hosted our expert panel as we explored our latest topic: ‘Healthy returns: What the future of wellbeing means for your business’. We were delighted to be joined by Julie Stephens, Director of Wellbeing and Health and Safety - Bupa, Steve Iley, Chief Medical Officer – Jaguar Land Rover, Ebenezer Adeniyi, Reward Business Partner - Hg Capital, and Gethin Nadin, Chief Innovation Officer – Benefex. We used the session to explore what’s next for wellbeing, the differences in generational expectations, as well as providing practical advice and support for designing global wellbeing strategies that work for employees and your business. It was clear from the discussion that workplace wellbeing is evolving rapidly, and employees are seeking organisations that not only offer comprehensive reward programmes, but comprehensive wellbeing programmes. It was great to see so many of our partners across the globe joining the session – we’re excited for the future of wellbeing and we look forward to going on this journey with you. #globalhealthcare #futureofwellbeing #bupaglobal #ipmi #perspectives #bupaglobal

🔧 Key takeaways from today’s excellent roundtable - aligning workplace wellbeing with economic growth and other government priorities The PLG on Workplace Wellbeing was delighted to welcome Tina Woods and Lord James Bethell from Business for Health cic and Peter Cheese from CIPD at our roundtable meeting on the Labour government’s Make Work Pay agenda. Here are the main highlights: 🔹 Incentives: A wellbeing levy or a similar policy instrument to encourage businesses to prioritise employee wellbeing. 🔹 Systemic change: Participants stressed the importance of systemic shifts, sharing Business for Health’s ongoing work with the ONS to improve health metrics and create a long-term vision for health as a key asset. Major focus on measuring outcomes and crafting holistic solutions. 🔹 Framework for employee wellbeing: creating “duty of care” guidelines to guide UK employers, providing actionable recommendations that place employee wellbeing at the heart of company policies. 🔹 Metrics: Moving beyond traditional metrics, participants explored ways to measure positive impacts on health and the economy, advocating for a unified, outcomes-based approach that highlights community health contributions. 🔹 Government collaboration and engagement: the roundtable underscored the need for sustained government engagement on long-term health initiatives — particularly policies that support employer contributions without regulatory restrictions. 🔹 Diverse workforce needs: the need to address ageism and create inclusive, supportive environments for all. Many thanks to our excellent speakers, chair Gethin Nadin, and participants for contributing to today’s session. Great to be part of this wide ranging discussion today. 1️⃣ We know the case to invest in workplace wellbeing is compelling: ✔️Talent attraction ✔️ Talent retention ✔️ Absenteeism reduced ✔️Presenteeism reduced ✔️ Productivity increased, alongside the moral and legal drivers. 2️⃣ Conversely we also know that wellbeing budgets can be the first thing to be deprioritised and cut when costs are constrained. 💡 So, we need reward and incentise employers to invest in health and wellbeing ££ - a wellbeing levy, benefit relief, salary sacrifice schemes are amongst the next obvious steps. Super keen to advance ideas and discussions - please do let me know your views #corporatehealth #workplacewellbeing #evidencebasedpractice #economicgrowth Onebright Donald Fowler Professor Marcantonio Spada Vicky Hodgson Michele Golden Alison Bromley
