The Accelerating RAN Intelligence in 5G (ARI-5G) Consortium, led by TIP in collaboration with partners, has achieved significant success in implementing, testing, and demonstrating a standards-based RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platform. This accomplishment includes developing and validating specific software solutions, such as xAPPs and rAPPs. The project seamlessly builds upon the ongoing activities of TIP's RAN Intelligence and Automation (RIA) Subgroup, leveraging the Subgroup's prioritized use cases to enhance the overall efficacy of 5G networks. Notably, the project received funding of £2.4 million from the UK government Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology, underscoring the importance of advancing 5G capabilities. The successful conclusion of this initiative marks a significant milestone, showcasing remarkable results and advancements in the field of RAN intelligence within the 5G ecosystem.

Ericsson extends the scope of the rApps to purpose-built RAN in addition to O-RAN definition.
