Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications & Information Technology and Chairman of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), CST will hold the second edition of the “Connecting the World from the Skies” forum in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Riyadh during the 25th and 26th of November 2024. A month ago, the Qatari diversified business conglomerate Power International Holding announced the acquisition of Kazakhstan's Mobile-Telecom Service for $1 billion. This purchase marks a significant move in Kazakhstan's telecommunications sector as the joint venture between Tele2 and the ALTEL brand, previously owned by Kazakhtelecom, transitions to Qatar Holding's ownership. The acquisition is expected to enhance the quality of internet services in Kazakhstan, addressing limitations and slow connections in certain regions. Qatar's emergence as a critical partner for Kazakhstan in the Arab world has surpassed the United Arab Emirates. Qatar and other Gulf states' interest in Central Asia and their support of a neutral policy towards the global order signifies positive developments.
