Are you feeling overwhelmed by the confusion around SAP's new technologies and career paths? You're not alone. With the rise of Gen AI and BTP, it's no surprise that everyone wants to jump on board. However, as hiring picks up, recruiters and interviewers are struggling to differentiate between BTP Developers and Architects, leading to misunderstandings in the hiring process. For those running on ECC with no S/4, SAP has aligned the roadmap to S/4 with seamless RISE migration, cutting costs and upgrade expenses by moving on-prem servers to RISE. But with limited features available for those with R/3 systems, customers are searching for Fiori experts. Interviewers may download questions from Google without any real experience in BTP development, leading to misjudgments in the hiring process. And while SAP's tutorials may be helpful, they don't replace real-world project experience. The confusion doesn't stop there - becoming a Solution Architect can be a bit of a mystery. Is it based on years of experience or experience working on various SAP modules? The answer may lie in your experience with new technologies and market updates. It's important to remember that the SAP world is constantly evolving with new technologies and limitations being resolved day by day. While there are numerous guided trainings and onboarding seminars available, it's important to focus on mastering a specific skill set rather than trying to be a jack of all trades. Let's work together to clear up the confusion and ensure that we're all on the same page when it comes to SAP's new technologies and career paths. #SAP #sapcommunity #s4hana #btp #btpabap #sapfiori #sapcleancoremethodology #risewithsap #sapin2024 #s4hanacloud Jelena Perfiljeva Vijay Chintarlapalli Jorge J. Tejas Chouhan : I think there is no confusion , if the Developers understand the ground reality on the amount of customizations in any S/4 HANA Engagements and how much can you really bring to BTP or how best you can delivery using the ABAP Cloud or Developer Extensionsibilty with the latest release APIs so that it makes your system cloud enabled . My advice is always stay updated with the latest extension strategies from SAP and try to implement the same .
SAP Consultant are confused now as new tech are emerging on every release basis and need to focus on one solution as you pointed out.
Confusion is the food for survival in SAP. Since nobody knows anything clearly and completely, everyone is surviving. A solution architect at a Big 4 who seemed extremely confident and authoritative at the beginning of the discussion with me yesterday, started showing his weaker spot as we moved deeper into the conversation. He then started showing his lack of complete understanding and at one stage, was even wrong in few things. This is the hard reality of SAP consulting.
My answer is YES for your question in the first line 🤕
Yes I totally agree super confusion !!!

9moThank you for voicing this Tejas. What I have seen is people read clients and functionals really don’t have a lot of idea on what is btp . The pain point is that not a lot of people in the industry have exposure to btp because of clients still having old s/4 set ups and limited money to go to btp and old mindset. Hence what I really feel is missing over here is empathy to understand the developer who doesn’t have a lot of exposure and scanty availability of btp architects who could guide the developer who are new to all of this mindset
