AMP’s AI-powered sortation technology enables the cost-effective sortation of municipal solid waste. Heirloom announced their $150M Series B round co-led by Future Positive Capital and Lowercarbon Capital with participation from Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Siemens Financial Services and more. This is a big investment for the future of low-cost DAC technology. Sublime Systems was awarded up to $87M by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to build a clean cement manufacturing plant in Holyoke, MA. Scaling clean cement is critically important as we tackle the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industry. Tim Latimer of Fervo Energy and Megan O'Connor of Nth Cycle were both included in the 2024 TIME 100 Next list of the most influential people in climate. Mainspring Energy was awarded $87M to build a generator manufacturing facility in Allegheny County, PA. Ebb Carbon signed a deal with Microsoft to store up to 350,000 tons of CO2 over the next decade using Ebb’s ocean-based carbon removal process. The surge in energy-focused start-ups is a hopeful sign. In 2023, nearly 27% of all venture capital for European tech start-ups went to energy innovations - more than double the share in 2021.   But for start-ups to reach their potential, they need more than funding.
